Hello again!! We use to feed ours a parrotlet food, but then that store moved and no longer carries it. We now feed him a mix of cockatile and parakeet seed with parakeet Zupreem (which he hates and never eats, but we still mix it in his food in case he needs it and starts eating it). I try to keep a millet spray in the cage. i did find a 'treat seed' by katee that I keep in a small cup across form his food. He likes the "Garden Veggie" and one for feather conditioning.
I don't know about your parrotlet, but our is very picky about his toys. Whenever we put something new in his cage, he hates it for about 2-3 weeks, then plays with it. He also doesn't shred things like other birds I have ahd contact with (my mom has had a few parakeets, lovebirds, and a Quaker parrot in my life time), but yours might. You can find these things called "Shred-ables" at your local pet store; they are boxes with treats inside so that as your birds tears up the box, he gets the treats inside. In Grissom's cage, we have a ladder, mirror (he loves to look at himself and talk to his reflection), willow branch perch, swing, and three rope/wood danlgy-thingies that he will hold onto and try to attack to show how viscious he is (but since he is like 4-in tall and the rope thing is twice his size, he gets hidden and isn't that scary).
I would suggest taking your parrotlet to your local pet store and let him try out some different toys for himself. Try to get a couple of perches, esp. one that is rough that he can file down his claws and beak. Also, look for a mirror, swing, along with some thing for him to climb on, hang on, and chew on. Remeber, a bored bird can be a dangerous bird. They can become grumpy, difficult to handle, rip things up, even rip out their feathers. Keep him occupied and handle him as often as possible so that he becomes use to human contact and likes to be held.

Toys with hanging bells seem to work best, they looove it.
Nice strong toys not cheap crappy plastic ones. eg: wooden,or acrylic.
Also food requirements are far more than seed.
Fruits (apples, pears, grapes, try lots of different ones.)
Vegies (spinach, mung beans, snow peas, sprouts, corn on cob, field peas, celery, small amount of grated carrot. and so on.
Multi grain bread or fruit breads are a favourite if not a baby bird.
Egg and biscuit mix
Millet spray
Seed treats
No Avocado, toxic for your birds
No lettuce, this has no nutritional value whatsoever.
Provide cuttlefish for calcium.
Fresh water everyday
Worming every 3 months
Goodluck

what is a parrotlet? a baby parrot or a parrot like bird ie... love birds, cockatils, ?? If it IS a parrot you can feed it anything except for lettuce ( causes diarreah ) and definately no Avocado ( too much fat and it will kill your parrot). I also definately reccommend that you look up parrots. There are over 800 different species of parrots and that is why I ask about your ~parrotlet. I have an Afican Gray parrot. Out of the 800 different types of parrots he is the best and most talkative.
Good luck and remember .... A parrot is alot of work, messy, noisy and also FOR LIFE!

I know, those toys cost like 5-10 $! Use some yawn, something soft, stringy, and something made of wood. They also like thing that make noise. Not alot of noise, just little dingling things. maybe beads on a string, but make sure they are not swallowable, just big enough for then to hold in thier mouth.

GET MIRRORS THAT FLIP AROUND! They love this it will keep them entertained for day and if they flip the better! Mirrors are the best but not to many, and if they start hitting the mirror wit there head don't worry about it lol, they realize soon enough that it doesn't do anything to the mirror just to themselves
