Sure it makes sense to be in a place where the hand of man hasn't changed what the hand of God created.
From another point of view, being in nature makes no demands upon you to "feed the hungry, visit the sick, etc." These are the things that are common in all faiths.
For myself, I experience a greater closeness to God sitting in a church pew late at night than on a log before a campfire. But that's just me.

Each person experiences God in different places...God is everywhere, we just have to go to the place where we feel most comfortable to relate to Him. There is just as much of God in a church in downtown LA asthere is in the wilderness.
Personally, I find God through nature the way you seem to do. But others may find God differently, and that is not a problem.
God bless!

I fully agree that you dont often find true spirituality in churches and to go somewhere that is away from people and noise is ideal but if that isnt possible I find going into the backyard or at parks or the beach etc can do just as well..but you have to be able to block out the everyday noises and distractions. I can even do this in my own home by turning off tvs, phones, computors etc. That is why many of us that do this buy certain types of music and incense to help.

One of the many awesome things about God is you can be with him any where. You can be with him in downtown LA, or in the mountains. God is with us all the time. But I agree, I would love to go spend a week in the mountains just spending time with God. But unfortunately I can't do that, so I will continue to love and praise God in my apartment and in my church in MN.

Fellowship is part of it too though. And where would you give your tithe? Besides, God resides everywhere.
I do agree that you can get close to God by being in nature. You can really listen when out there rather than be distracted.

God is everywhere. But I think it would be easier as well as more pleasant to relate to God on a mountain. I relate to God through nature, and that's how I would do it. Blessed be.

I prefer to go pray outside to God. Actually planning on going to a mountain top and just pray. It's no mount Zion, at least I'll pray in peace.

God resides in Heaven but you can draw close to him by viewing all the beautiful things he has created as well as by gathering together with others who love and appreciate him.

If you really wanted to relate to God...does it really matters WHERE you do it? Isn't he everywhere, and in everything?
Couldn't you do it every night in your own room, instead of waiting for sundays?
Couldn't you do it at every meal, because he gave you the food, the ability to cook it, the family/friends to accompany you, the table/chairs/home to eat it at, etc...?
Relate to God in your own way...HE doesn't care if you go to church in your best clothes, or in rags... HE doesn't care wether you go as a group, or by yourself... Enjoy your relationship with HIM, and only pray that everyone else enjoy theirs.

for some people, it brings a closeness to god that they do not feel in other places. it is different for everyone. it is all in what you believe. i agree. but i think god can also be found in some churches. it is a matter of opinion.
