I'm an eighteen year old male, in pretty good shape, and I'm trying to stay that way. I've heard that going to sleep right after eating causes increased weight, which is what I don't want. So how long should I wait before hitting the hay?

I've heard that you shouldn't eat a whole lot after 6:30 to 7 pm....so I would say at least 2 to 3 hours

I'm not positive if this is true but I believe I saw some Sumo wrestlers on TV who said that one of the main ways they use to maintain their "big" bodies (they want weight) is to eat big meals and then lay down and take a nap. That makes sense. - when you eat and then aren't active, no calories are burning, at least not many. I know when I don't eat from 6 or 7PM till the next morning, I do lose weight and also just feel much better.

Your body has nutrient timing, so on average a young male needs to have at least a 3 hour interval between dinner and sleep.I'm personally a natural bodybuilder and tried it all. With school, work, and training its important to get that sleep pattern down right as well as nutrient intake.

It depends on what time you go to sleep. I would recommend having your last meal/snack 3 hours before you go to bed.

don't worry about it, you're not going to gain weight, but if you plan on sleeping right after eating. eat lite. just easier to digest
