I don't think the 'government' wants amnesty, however. Big business wants cheap labor it can exploit. They know if there is an amnesty they will have to find fresh slaves. They have no interest in an amnesty but were willing to get it to flood the country with cheap labor, because on the other hand it is no skin off of their nose - they don't pay for schools.
The Democrats want amnesty because they believe the illegals will vote for them which may happen with some in the short run, but by the time they can be citizens, they will be some years from being illegal and will have different concerns.
Most of us want border security, except big business who only want to make sure no one wipes out another sky scraper (bad for the stock market.)
I agree 'ALL' won't be deported. The choices are between no amnesty, border security and a guest worker program, with increasing enforcement supposedly to make it unbearable for the illegals to stay, and reduction of benefits. Problem is, I don't think once they get their guest worker program big business will live up to security or enforcement. I mean, as long as they are illegal and therefore cheap, big business loves them. And talk about employer enforcement is not what big business wants to hear. Meanwhile the Democrats also don't want to deport, because they want amnesty. Then what? We have both the illegals already here, plus the 'guest' workers, plus lax enforcement.
No thanks.
Or, get border security and enforcement with a path for a citizen suit if there is lack of enforcement against employers, plus amnesty of screened illegals here.
I think that is a package Democrats might buy.
That leaves big business out in the cold, but I could live with that.

I don't think you're totally off the mark. Illegals are cheap labor, and big businesses want all the cheap manual labor they can get. Neoconservatives (I'm a paleoconservative) cater to big business, and so the current administraion is looking for ways to give the illegals amnesty. And yes, if President Bush can get it done in the next two years, they'll get amnesty. I still demand that illegals be deported, but if the true conservatives in Congress can keep putting it off, maybe we can get a traditional conservative in there in 2008 who will have our Nat'l Guard do a nationwide round-up. Somebody needs to.

Well it's not news that the government wants illegals here, hello? You have no way of knowing how it will turn out, but one way or the other the influx of immigrants must stop! Why are you not concerned about the future? There is just no way the United States can continue in this manner. Wake up!

This has been going on for decades. Nothing has ever been done about it. They last tried in 1986! That was a joke! What are all of the rich people to do in S. Cal for servants? What are the farmers to do for filed help? We need a comprehensive plan to continue the people of the world coming to "The Land of the Free" but with security. That's what scares me. Why can't those damn terrorists hire a Coyote and get in here undetected? You know they can and probally already have done it!

I believe, and I say this kindly, that YOU are the delusional one, PANCHA....
Deportation is quite simple. School buses are used during holidays and weekends to deport...all law enforcement cooperate in the rounding up. Money which has been traditionally sent to Mexico for aid be rerouted to fuel and other expenses to deport....
It's a piece of cake!

No sh*t, Dick Tracey, tell me something new. They only deport a few, and people think they are going to deport all of these leeches that the Mexican government sends here. It will never happen because Bush is a traitor and so are the Politicians.

I TOTALLY BELIEVE YOU!! they just use them for cheap hire... because the government is run by corporations who only care about profit... and they to get more profit is to hire people at a lower wage... although I know they can't hire people without a green card... but you damn well know they are still working here under the table....
but think of it this way who's gunna pick our fruits and vegetables.. or mow our lawns... americans won't because they won't make enough pay... haha!!

Have you heard how they're planning to dissolve the borders between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, and make North America one nation? Part of the New World Order plan to institute a one world dictatorship.
