A prescription dose would be 3 or 4 taken 4 times a day. Have a little bit of food in your stomach if you are going to take ibuprofen more than once or twice. You want to stay under 3200 mg per day and you want to only do that for 5 to 7 days at a clip. Of course, if you need this much, you ought to be under a doctor's care for whatever your problem is. If you exceed this dose, you may begin to experience stomach problems, kidney or liver problems (sometimes irreversible) and bleeding problems. Read the label and really pay attention to the side effects and adverse reactions and assume that they are going to be much more likely and potentially more severe if you use the full prescription dose rather than sticking to 2 gel caps 4 times per day. Now to answer what is probably your REAL question... If you take 3 to 4 Advil Liquid Gels once a week or so (assuming no underlying medical conditions or interactions with other medications), you are not likely to have any problems. 400 mg just doesn't cut it for some people and 600 or 800 does.

You can take up to four, not recommended but you are safe!! Don't take over four at a time!!
The dosage of Ibuprofen is 200mg, which is the over the counter strength, then you have the prescription strengths that are
400mg, 600mg, and 800mg!!
Advil and Motrin are Ibuprofen!!!
But you should always check with your Dr. or at least tell him the dosage you are taking!!

I do't know about liqui-gels but I take the tablets and it says on the back of the bottle that you're not supposed to take over 6 in a 24 hr period. It could cause "hives, facial swelling, asthma (wheezing), shock, stomach bleeding".
