I think your friend was wrong. He is weak and chose leave the Catholic church. It is very easy to leave the Catholic church. I ones was brain washed by other protestent groups. And I went to other churches. But there is only one true religion which is the Catholic church. Why did he get baptized again? He was already baptized as an infant when he was born into the Catholic church. You are not wrong. Please be strong in your faith. We need young people to evangalise. I know the mass may look like a routine thing and boring unlike like the protestants services which are upbeat and lively. The people who leave the Catholic church and join the other denominations turn out to be more anti catholics than than the original protestants. What ever negative experiences a young Catholic might have experienced in their life time doesn't justyfy them to leave the church. It is not the Churches fault. You are not wrong by all means. Please keep your faith. Pray and read the bible every day and ask God's guidance. Believe me I am a young person who was misslead ones too. But as I got older I realized what I did was wrong. As a friend it's your duty to help him come back to the Catholic church. If you have any kind of doubts talk to your parish priest. God bless you and your friend. Please pray for your friend that he might turn around and come back to the faith. God is kind, merciful and forgiving and he will not abandon your friend even if he mad a mistake. I will keep your friend in my prayers too. Good luck and God Bless.

Have you thought about the possibility that you are both wrong?
Personally -- I couldn;t be Catholic. I could never be part of a religion that does not treat women as equals.
That being said -- if you are going to be a Christian, I don't understand how you can be anything but Catholic. You can either be a part of the religion that Jesus created (Catholicism) or be a part of a religion created by men. All Protestants are, by definition, heretics.

You are right! Your friend has been slowly brainwashed. The protestants will stoop to any level to get Catholics to change to their religion.
My own Grandmother use to tell me that I was going to go to HELL if I did not change to be Church of Christ.
She was even worse to my mother, who is Catholic.
When I was growing up, I lived outside of Alma, Arkansas
during the time that Tony & Susan Alamo were at the top of their popularity. An English teacher had some of their converts come and talk to the classes. They made the Catholic church sound like, murders who drank blood, and were drunk all the time, They said that Catholics praid to other god's and that they did not believe in Jesus.
Missionary Baptists are the worst. I have had a preacher of that faith tell me that I could not go to heaven and that the Pope was the servant of the devil. He preaches hatred of Catholics to his congregation and other churches that he visits. The funny thing is that he had to get married because his girlfriend got pregnant and he married her. Some shepard ?
The Catholic church is the only church that can trace its beginning to Jesus Christ in an unbroken line. Has the church made mistakes, of course, but that does not change the fact that Jesus started it!
Stick to your faith, I will pray for you! The devil is trying to lead you away from God!
Good luck and God bless.

My primary complaints with the catholic church are as follows: Why should I have to confess my sins to a man when the bible clearly states that Jesus' death and resurrection opened up a line of communication directly to God? Where is purgatory in the bible? Why do you pray to Mary, who is not a sinless woman? If she was, couldn't she have been the Christ? I have other complaints, but I think the catholic church deviates too much from the bible. Many Catholics are true christians, as you very well may be, but you need to find the truth for yourself, which is in the bible, and not in the words of pastors or priests. I am a protestant because I believe my church preaches directly from the bible, while my experience with the catholic church has shown me otherwise.

I think you are both correct and should not look down on each other for which religion you practice. Your friend shouldn't tell you that you're wrong for believing in what you do, just as you shouldn't tell him he's wrong. Practice tolerance. Just because something has been around a long time doesn't mean it is right, just as it doesn't mean it's wrong. It is just a matter of perception. Allow each other to practice choice religion and continue to enjoy each others friendship. Too much hatred has been provoked by religion...just look at the middle east. This goes back hundreds upon hundreds of years. Do not allow your difference in religion to come between you. Take care.

There is no wrong or right. It is the same beliefs but different styles of worshiping. Protestants don't agree with the way Catholics worship but they believe the same things basically. The way of worship I was referrign to is for example confessing to a priest, praying to the Virgin Mary and other saints, baptizing babies... etc. Protestants confess their sins to God, don't pray to or worship saints becaus it's one of the commandments, and we don't baptize our children because children are innocent and therefore could not be washed of their since, Jesus himself was not worshiped until he was 30. I am an evangelical/pentacostal christian. It's basically a denomination of Protestantism. Maybe you should learn more about it, it won't mean that you aren't a good catholice or questioning your faith. It doesn't hurt to learn about other religions so you could know first hand the differences and not make assumptions about brainwashing. Good luck.

You refer to Catholicism as old fashioned, or I see nothing wrong with the fact that a religion dose not change to suit people wants or to be popular. Stick to your guns and be proud that you do. And if your friend was baptized Catholic he will forever be Catholic for you cannot unbaptized someone. Just pray for them. People now days choice a religion based upon convince not upon truth maybe someday he will see the light again.
Keep your faith strong you will be glad you did in the end.
God Bless!

Hello friend,
It seems to me that you and your friend are willing to defend your own choices of "religion" rather than focusing on the Object of your faith which should be Jesus Christ.
Folks today seem to think that belonging to a religion means something to God. It does not. If you believe that your religion is right and his is wrong, you've missed the point.
What really matters is Jesus Christ. If you truly want to be a Christian and devoted follower of Him, you will learn what pleases Him and do it. Read His Book, you won't find either religion written in it.
Friend, check out John 14:21 and maybe show it to your friend as well.
Blessings,
2 Tim. 2:7

Personally I belive that most forms of organized religion are brainwashing. But if you are a catholic because that is what feels right in you're heart than good for you. But it sounds like your friend swiched religions because of a girl and not because of what was in his heart. Thats not a good reason to be in a religion. And staying in a religion without giving it any thought is just as bad.

You and your friend are both wrong, and I don't mean religion. Your wrong for pointing the finger at each other, it is not your place or his to choose the others religion. It is between a person and their God/Gods/Goddess to be cool.It is your place as a friend to remain his friend even if you don't see eye to eye in personal beliefs. His switch to Protestant doesn't make him a different or worse person. By excepting each other you both become better people.
