Jake was a natural middleweight, although he had to pretty much torture himself to make the weight and Duran was at his very best at lightweight his fights with DeJesus are legendary. Duran kept moving up in weight as his waist line grew he had a real tough time with Barkley before he stopped him and Pat Lawler also gave Manos de pedra a hard go. Jake had battles with the great Sugar Ray Robinson only winning one of the six bouts. Hands down Jake the better of the two.

Legendary fighters with Duran having better boxing skills. LaMotta would bully Duran because he was a natural middleweight and had the edge in strength. Duran would land some hard punches but not enough to keep LaMotta off of him. LaMotta by a close decision.

Duran's prime was at lightweight and maybe welterweight (certainly the first Sugar Ray Leonard fight). Jake LaMotta was a natural middleweight who had one of the hardest chins in boxing history. LaMotta by decision.

Jake may have been too big for Duran, Duran was a natural lightweight.

There were alot of tough fighters in that division and era.

Jake LoMotta was definitely one of the tougher men in boxing. Jake would be just too big and too strong.

Only the class, skill and strength of Sugar Ray Robinson prevailed. Don't get me wrong he was a great lightweight fighter, but as he moved up he encountered problems that all fighters get when fighting in a heavier division.
