Ray Robinson wins..... Roberto Duran was never in his prime at middleweight, would be a great fight. Also if you really think about it Robinson was just past his prime as a middleweight. Robinson had close to 100 fights before he challenged Jake LaMotta for LaMotta's middleweight title. I have that particular fight on DVD and was watching it last night and if I heard correctly Robinson had 99 bouts w/ 1 loss and 1 draw. Robinson did win the middleweight title a record 5 times but that means he had to lose it 4 times. In those remaining years after the LaMotta fight he lost 18 times. Obviously Robinson was in his prime as a welterweight. Robinson by decision, the only fighter I saw destroy Duran was Tommy Hearns and even though Robinson could punch I don't think he could hit as hard as Hearns. Smitty, if you read this your comment was great, but Robinson wasn't unbeatable at middle I think Monzon and Hagler could beat him at middle. You know Robinson did lose to Basilio, Turpin, Fullmer, and even though these 3 are hall of famers they weren't as good as Monzon and Hagler.

This would be yet another classic matchup between legends. Duran was not nearly as domineering as a middleweight though he did beat Iran Barkley and gave Marvin Hagler a good fight. Sugar Ray could do it all and would beat Duran by unanimous decision.

Duran was a great lightweight, but Robinson would have been too fast, too big and he could hit hard. compare the records at the same age Robinson was still fighting talented and tough middleweights even in his advanced age. Robinson by decision or knock out.

Let me hip you to this, my man. the following is a list of great boxers all of whom would lose to the greatest pound 4 pound fighter of all-time.
Welter wt - Middle wt
Ray Leonard - Marvin Hagler
Thomas Hearns - Carlos Monzon
Jose Napoles - Dick Tiger
Emile Griffin - Mike McCallum
Kid Gavilan - Nino Benvenvuti
Roberto Duran - Roy Jones
Wilfredo Benitez - Bernard Hopkins
Also Robinson would have beat Lt hwy wt Jose Torres and Willie Pastrano.
Of all these fighters only these would go the distance - Ray Leonard, Kid Gavilan, Marvin Hagler, Carlos Monzon, Mike McCallum and Bernard Hopkins.

I love Duran, but Robinson would win this one. He would be able to outbox Duran and stop him in the later rounds. The question's a bit confusing, though, because Duran was a lightweight in his prime. :)
