I don't think the weight class would matter, I have to go with Sugar Ray Robinson, but it would be close...

Duran had a few good fights in the welterweight division, beating Carlos Palimino and Sugar Ray Leonard.
Sugar Ray Robinson fought middleweights as a welterweight, this combined with his record of a first up loss to Jake LaMotta, in 40 contests and he went on to compile a further 80 wins before his next loss. Very impressive and must see him actually be the favourite in a fight with Duran either as welterweight or middleweight.
He progress was quite fast and he went though the ranks as was the system then. Fight 4, 6, 8, round prelims before you progress to the next level. He fought quite a few champions in his first year as a challenger. Fritzie Zivic was one.
What I would like to know is what would happen if they fought at lightweight at welterweight he was untouchable.

Wow,what a great question. Duran tough as nails could he get inside Robinson's head like he did against Leonard in their first fight? Don't think so. Robinson by unanimous decision in a fight where Duran gets his licks in but can't keep up with Robinson's slick boxing.

Ray Robinson wins..... Roberto Duran became under no circumstances in his top at middleweight, would be an incredible combat. additionally in case you somewhat think of roughly it Robinson became only previous his top as a middleweight. Robinson had on the factor of one hundred fights in the previous he challenged Jake LaMotta for LaMotta's middleweight identify. I certainly have that distinctive combat on DVD and became staring at it final evening and if I heard wisely Robinson had ninety 9 bouts w/ a million loss and a million draw. Robinson did win the middleweight identify a checklist 5 cases yet meaning he had to lose it 4 cases. In those last years after the LaMotta combat he lost 18 cases. of course Robinson became in his top as a welterweight. Robinson by using determination, the only fighter I observed injury Duran became Tommy Hearns or maybe although Robinson ought to punch i do no longer think of he ought to hit as demanding as Hearns. Smitty, in case you examine this your remark became super, yet Robinson wasn't unbeatable at center i think of Monzon and Hagler ought to beat him at center. you understand Robinson did lose to Basilio, Turpin, Fullmer, or maybe although those 3 are hall of famers they weren't as solid as Monzon and Hagler.

sugar ray.the way duran just keeps walking up and throwing leather, while he has a knockout punch,he would be jabbed off by sugar and the points he[sugar ray] would accumulate by this would make him unbeatable in this contest over any distance
