That's why I'm more of a dog person. They don't run from you.

It depends on how she was raised. If she was teased, tossed, kicked, sprayed with water (even if it was for obediance training), she can easily become easy to frighten. It's really not hard to do at all. Anything sort of abuse, even rough play, if done enough and especially while the cat was not in the mood (you can tell by their reations when a cat doesn't want to be bothered), they can turn either mean or afraid to be touched.
One of my current cats was my first pet I raised on my own. Me and my younger brother were admittedly rough on her when she was younger, playing with her and aggrivating her further when she was already mad. I even tried using a spray bottle to try and train her for a while. Now she has a perminate fear of anything that looks remotely like a squirt bottle, even spray cans, and even if I'm all the way across the room from it.
The best thing you can do is completely avoid doing whatever it is she hates the most, and be entirely sweet and tender to her, feed her treats when she comes close to ensure her it's okay. Feed her more when she lets you hold her. And give her random ones just to let her know you care. Just as easy as it is to turn a cat to being afraid, you can learn to gain their trust back if you put enough effort into it. Every cat loves a bit of affection. :D

she runs away from you?? or runs away from the house for a few day??? i have a male that is 6 yrs old and is a complete chicken. he cries and cries if anyone comes close to him. when i got him the guy i was with didn't like cats so he would chase shady down and scare him....hold him down, put him on the very top of his gun cabinet....the poor cat doesn't understand that not everyone wants to hurt him..and he's slowly getting over it. thats the reason my cat is a chicken.

dont' worry, my cat is the definition of scaredy cat. she runs away if you walk up quickly. you have to be slow and smooth in your movements not to scare her. she runs away from all visitors and if we open the door or close the door sharply. she's scared of kids, she's scared of guys, and some of my girlfriends too.
we've tried everything but really its how she was raised and her personality. you just have to accept her as the scaredy cat she is. its just so ironic how scared she gets around other people, becasue around us, she acts like the queen bee and parades around. i love it. such a poser.
