Canadian copyright laws are nearly identical to those in the US, and here artwork and signatures are automatically copyrighted (meaning you don't have to pay to have it documented).
Draw a little circle with a letter C inside next to your signature to make people know you are aware of copyright laws. Not necessary to prove you own the rights, but good practice nevertheless.

No. There is no need to "copyright" your signature. It would have to be made into a trade mark, and that would be very expensive. Just sign your work and add the standard copyright notice and don't worry. I have been working as an artist since the early 1980's and what you are worried about is very rare.

no! Believe me, as a published artist who works with many other professionals, no one I know copyrights their signature. Your original work is the only thing that needs protecting. If someone copies your signature that would be fraud, not a copyright violation. You can't copyright right small phrases and titles, and a name would be a title.

Absolutely. Others could easily reproduce your cards with your signature on them, so I suggest that the best way to avoid any legal mishaps, is to "trademark" your signature. When you're big and famous ..... you'll think back on this day and thank yourself for doing it all the right way =) GOOD LUCK !

Yes. Someone can claim they came up with your name or someone will try to copy your signature.
