I want to "touch" myself, but I come from a religous family and I am afraid to do it. I have a picture of Christ hanging over my bed and my parents are real strict. But I am only human and have needs. Yeah my parents wont know, but how do I get over this guilty streak?

Do you want to get a clue from the Bible if it is right or wrong, or do you just not want to feel NOT guilty? Just in case anyone is interested on Bible advice, which not mentioning self abuse directly, certain verses lean toward not giving into fleshly wrong desires.

These Scriptures will probably only be of interest to sincere Christians.

The Bible mentions things that are not a sin; Galatians 6:22,23 Love. joy, peace, goodness, kindness, faith, mildness, long-suffering and *SELF CONTROL* ..

Galatians 5:19 mentions works of the flesh; fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct..

1Thessalonians 4:3-5 God wills the sanctifying of you, that you abstain from fornication, that each one of you SHOULD know how to get possession of his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in covetous *sexual appetite* such as also those nations have which do no know God..

Colossians 3:5-8 DEADEN, therefore, your body members that are upon the earth as respects fornication, uncleanness, *sexual appetite,* hurtful desire and covetousness, which is *idolatry.*

Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin continue to rule as King in your mortal bodies that you should obey their desires.. (read also 13-23)

Matthew 10:26 ..there is nothing covered over that will not become uncovered, and secret that will not become known.

Rev. 20:12-15 ..scrolls were opened,...and they were judged individually according to their deeds.

Ephesians 4:30 ..do not be grieving God's holy spirit...

1Corinthians 3:16,17 Do you not know that you people are God's temple, and that the spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, which temple you people are.

Our Father, lead us not into temptation...PRAY.....as Jesus said; 'the spirit is eager, but the flesh is weak;' Matthew 26:41.

These Scriptures help me whenever I am tempted to do anything wrong. Best wishes...

What you're experiencing is normal, but it doesn't mean you should simply give in to your feelings.

Beside the fact that this type of behavior is generally considered sinful, there's also the real possibility that it could become a lifelong habit that may turn out to be nearly impossible for you to break.

Believe it or not, there are many people in the world who spend most of their waking moments either drinking, smoking dope, or having some kind of sex.

Unfortunately, it's all they do ... and that's exactly where the problem lies.

It's reasonable to assume that God put you here on earth to accomplish something important for him.

This type of behavior is a generally sinful distraction that may act to prevent you from achieving your true destiny. Over time, it may also end up alienating you from God.

Why risk it?

The best strategy is to set it aside. Don't start. Then you won't have to deal with any of the other negative consequences, or the guilt, ever!

Make up your mind (right now, this minute) that it's an activity that's simply not right for you, that it doesn't contribute anything positive to your life, and that you have better things to do.

There will be plenty of time to experience sexual activity when you get married.

That's how God intends it to be, and that's where sex, instead of making ONE feel GUILTY, actually makes TWO feel VERY GOOD ... about themselves ... and about their relationship with God, too.

Finally, if in a moment of weakness you fail, don't cave in to guilt, and don't think of yourself as a weakling or a loser. You're merely human, and God will forgive.

Just tell God you're sorry, and make up your mind to try to do better in the future.

You may even want to try changing your daily routine, so that you don't find yourself in situations where you might be tempted.

Then, get busy doing what God put you here on earth to accomplish.

God Bless you.

For everyone else that answers, please try and take the question seriously.

The question is how can she deal with her own guilt. Guilt isn't something that's just a conscious effort: If you're going to feel guilty for it, that can be gnawwing at you for a long time afterwords. However, if you were to repeatedly do it despite your guilt, your subconscious would likely accept that it isn't a horrible thing to do, and it would go away. However, this can't be guaranteed. If you consciously realize that what you want to do isn't wrong but you still have some level of guilt, there's some disconnect between your subconscious and your consciousness. I'm not entirely sure how to fix the disconnect other than self-training. It can be hard, and may not even be worth the effort, but if you want to be able to make your own decisions based on your conscious thoughts rather than what some people have called "programming" it's probably something to look into.

Masturbation is natural, most all people have done it at least once. I see no need to feel guilty about the need to masturbate. I don't remember anything in the bible saying you can't

To avoid infection wash hands before and after, and try not to do it to often. Keep the noise down or others will know. If you are a male it will be a little messy, a condom will help to keep the mess under control or do it in the shower. Boys will have an odor spill a little after shave or cologne around to mask the smell.

When you're feeling guilty, think of it like this. It is a natural thing. Children do it as young as 2-3 years old. If you didn't do it to yourself, then you might be more likely to do it with someone else. Im sure your parents would be a heck of a lot more upset about that, don't you think? And you have the added benefit of not having to worry about pregnancy, which is every parent's worst nightmare.

Show me in the bible where it says self-stimulation is a sin. Until you can do that...I say go ahead and try. It is better than you going out and having sex. Also, from a totally clinical point of view, touching yourself can be a way to know your body. For instance if you know what your breasts feel like, if you ever feel anything out of the ordinary then you might have just prevented yourself from getting breast cancer. The same with the other parts of your body.

Relax and go with the flow.

I think of it this way: God made me including all the parts. If I think part of my body is "bad", then I am saying God made something bad. The all-loving all-knowing God I believe in only creates people with love and "in his image".
Did you know the ciltorus has no function other than pleasure during sex? If such a body part was made, then feelings of guilt doen't make sense.
Best of luck!
P.S. You may want to do research on female genital mutilation. I find it facinating (and horrifying) that some cultures routinely remove the clitoris because they don't think a girl should find sex pleasurable.

The Bible doesn't mention this subject, so it's not called a sin by God. But if you feel convicted by the Holy Spirit then it could be a sin for you. However if your conviction comes from some other place, well....here's a link to an investigation of scripture on this subject that was written for men. I only offer it to you for your examination. Let God be your guide, not people including myself...

God gave you your hands. God gave you your body, your private parts, didn't He? The image of Christ above your bed should tell you this. We are created in God's image. God became man, Jesus. Had God created woman, also in his image, would he not have created human desire? Of course God created woman also. You're obviously Roman Catholic. There's a lot of man-made guilt built into that religion. I had a picture of Jesus Christ above my bed when I had my first "whoo-whoo". Nothing wrong with it. Have fun. Do not, however, take this as a blessing to be prosmiscuous. Remain chaste! But do what comes natural to you, without guilt. Pre-marital ANYTHING with another person is wrong. Just keep it to yourself.

There's no reason to feel guilty...masturbation is the safest sex there is...and completely natural...animals (for the most part) don't tend to do it, they generally have sex only together and only to procreate...humans are made differently...we enjoy it, we do it for pleasure as well as procreation, and we sometimes do it alone if a suitable partner isn't available...

I don't know why your religion would have any issues against it...but then from long ago in history the church wanted to control every aspect of people's lives...they have no business in your bedroom...as long as you are harming no one, enjoy...
