I took my 3 year cat for her yearly check up and shots today and now she just lays on the floor and when we pet her she growls and hisses like it hurts. The vet just said to keep her in a dark guiet room and she will be better tomorrow. Anybody else have this happen?

Adverse reactions to vaccinations usually resolve, but they're a red flag for future vaccinations. And sometimes they don't resolve...

Watch the area around the vaccine site very carefully for at least the next several months, and keep checking it from time to time for the next year or two. Be alert for any kind of swelling.

What you're watching out for is Vaccine-Associated Sarcoma.

VAS is any of a number of cancers, usually fibrosarcoma, triggered by the inflammation produced by the vaccination process. These cancers are usually lethal but many cats survive; early detection and prompt, expert treatment greatly enhance the chances of survival.

I sure hope your kitty isn't developing VAS, but you'd better read up on it and be alert, just in case. Check out the links below:

Also, any cat that had an adverse reaction to a vaccination should probably never be vaccinated again, even if this means changing the cat's lifestyle to avoid exposure to disease. Research has shown that previous adverse vaccine reactions are a strong risk factor for VAS.

Sometimes vaccines can make us all feel under the weather. I heard that the Rabies vaccine is particularly harsh and many animals get a mild reaction from it. It is also very probable that she is a bit vexed at you for having taken her to the big bad vet in the first place. I think you should heed your vet's advice unless your cat starts to get worse. If you are worried, then you can always take her to an emergency vet to set your mind at ease.

Yes animals like humans can have reactions to there shots. Like when I get my flu shot I don't feel well for about 24 hours or so. It is pretty much the same thin your cat is going through. My cat gets really tired and lays around when she gets her shots and De-wormed.

Yup, that is completely normal. She is holding a grudge against you right now becaue you are the ones who took her to the vet and let them "hurt" her. lol But she is just upset and sore, she will be ok and get over it.
