I heard it takes ten days to several months for people who are eligible.

I was told that I will get a greencard by mail when I arrive to United States, and I wonder when I will get it

it will take from 2 months up to 1 year depend who you got it.
family based like spouse based cases are the firs one.

if you have your receipt no.click on:
Finding the Status of Your Case
If you have an application receipt number, you can check the status of your case online.

"If you were granted permanent resident status or entered the U.S. with an immigrant visa more than 60 days ago and have not received your first permanent resident card, please call 1-800-375-5283"

it takes like a month and a half and if u dont want to wait that long go to a human service place and ask them if u can know a way to get it faster
