Abuse can be neglect, physical or mental abuse. Parents that are so troubled that they become alcoholics might find parenting to be one of the stressors that causes them to drink. They might yell at their children and call them horrible names against their better judgment, because their judgment has been impaired by the alcohol. Also, some drunks get very nasty and violent and will actually physically abuse their children, again for the same reason of losing judgment.

This is not always true. My friend's dad was an alcoholic, and he was the nicest he could be and my friend loved him. She said he's a good dad.

Alcoholism does not necessarily mean drinking 10+ beers or glasses of wine per day (for example).

Simply drinking one glass of wine per day will make you an alcoholic over time.
You simply can not resist anymore. You just end up needing that one glass once a day.

The more severe alcoholics can be the nicest people ever, but when they are drunk they are obviously not in their right minds.
Just like getting high, or even just eating too much candy, your mood will change. It will change and become uncontrolable for a few hours. Being drunk can cause alot of things such as violence. If a parent is drunk with their kid nearby, they may have a violent outburst and physically abuse their children.

There are different levels of alcoholism, so nothing can really be justified saying that alcoholics are bad parents and abusive. BUT, there is a chance that if somebody has a high BAC (blood alcohol content), they may become violent, which could lead to child abuse.

Not true. There are some people that drink a lot and are the best of parents. And there are some people that never touched alcohol a day in their lives and are the most verbally and physically abusive people that you will ever meet. Being a good parent has to do with the person's patience, understanding, personality, and has a lot do with how their parents raised them.

Because alcoholics have mental problems. They also have issues with impulse control. That's why they will drink and then regret it later, or why they'll hit someone and then regret it later. Then of course they are often so drunk they don't know what they are doing. If you are being abused, please go to social services or some other service and get help for your family. If you are the abuser, do the same. Good Luck.

To incoherent to think straight. Drunks are always right bye the way don't ever argue with one you won't win! Anyone can abuse a child they don't necessarily have to be drunk. If you are being abused their are a lot of ways for you to get help and be protected at the same time. If you know someone who is being abused get them help asap if no one is willing to listen keep telling someone with eventually listen start with school counselor or teacher or even your Dr.

Maybe. It all depends however on what type of drunks thew parents are. If they are "fighter drunks" then I would say, absolutely YES the children will be abused. But, if the parents and happy, hippy drunks, I doubt there will be much of a chance of abuse only because that is what type of people they are.

Because Alcoholism is an addiction meaning they can not control themselves. When you loose control then your likely to hurt someone. It is very common among alcoholics to be violent. Hopefully, they would get help for themselves just for the fact they should love themselves and then a side effect would be becoming a better parent. I pray that helps

they are under the influence of alcohol and some can get very aggressive or vary demanding and some ppl can blank out and they no longer know what they're doing or saying and they can get very out of control and beat the hell out of their kid(s). they can kill, rape, hit, or any thing like allow danger to come to their
child(ren) by having any one that is intoxicated and they not know that, that person that is with them touched their child(ren)... you never know but parents shouldn't drink to the point that they no longer have control of them selves. it not only hurts them but it effects MANY people around them.

Because alcoholics already have a history of making bad choices and of self centered behaviour. Alcoholics are cranky and exhibit poor self control. Their inabiltiy to deal appropriately with stress is proven.
