The main ingredient in Jello is gelatin. Unless you can magically make gelatin, you have to buy either the jello packages or gelatin packages.
Cotton candy: You need a cotton candy making machine, which you can buy from Cresco restaurant supplies.

To make jello, you have to have the base which is gelatin...
There is flavourless gelatin which comes in powder or sheet form...
You will then have to melt it and add fruit juices and sugar to make jello.
The powdered one melts in hot water...
The sheet gelatin has to be softened in cold water while the water is brought to the boil, and then the hot water is poured over it...
For cotton candy, you need a "spinning" machine...as cotton candy is really only pink-dyed sugar which has been heated and "spun" in the machine (There is (or used to be) a toy version which you might find in a large toy shop, which you could use at home...The others are mostly used at fairs and are industrial size, way to big for a home.
I have my own recipe for a banana mousse cake with unflavoured gelatin...
If you want to, contact me and I'll pass it on to you

If you could make jello without buying the packs...the Jello company would have been out of business years ago.
