Why wasnt anyone allowed to make any noise when he and Katie's Holmes baby was born until 24 hours after the baby was born? I know this is related to their beliefs but why is it that they wanted it that way?

interesting response....and, I like Tom Cruise's work ethic, acting, wit and he's cute, too.....

Would be too funny to think we came from aliens, however. God did make the universe, and, if Adam and Eve had behaved themselves perhaps we could be living on other planets as well.

The Bible was written down by scribes. Scribes were a Profession dedicated to capturing history as it was.

In no other religion did a savior give His life in exchange for yours. Buddha did not. Mohammed did not. Only Jesus Christ, and God who gave His only son, that, whoever would call on His name Would Be Saved.

well here goes straight from the horses mouth ...so to speak...directly from the **Scientology website**

as far as birth..

question 1 ...What is a quiet or silent birth?

Having a quiet, gentle birth is all about providing the best possible environment for the birthing mother and her new baby.

It is labor and delivery done in a calm and loving environment and with no-spoken words by everyone attending as much as possible. Chatty doctors and nurses, shouts to “PUSH, PUSH” and loud or laughing remarks to “encourage” are the types of things that are meant to be avoided.

As L. Ron Hubbard, Founder of Dianetics and Scientology, wrote, “Everyone must learn to say nothing within the expectant mother’s hearing during labor and delivery.” And, “A woman who wants her child to have the best possible chance will find a doctor who will agree to keep quiet especially during the delivery, and who will insist upon silence being maintained in the hospital delivery room as far as it is humanly possible.”

Does this mean that a mother cannot scream or moan at all?

Of course they can make noises — the point of silent birth is NO WORDS. This is a principle of Dianetics and to fully understand why, read the book Dianetics the Modern Science of Mental Health, by L. Ron Hubbard. It is words that are the culprit. Outside of not speaking, the objective is generally to have as peaceful and relaxing an environment as possible for the mother and child. It is doubtful that any woman could give birth without making any noise at all.

Mothers naturally want to give their baby the best possible start in life and thus keep the birth as quiet as possible.

question 2.......... What is Scientology?

Scientology, which means “knowing how to know,” is a religion based on the works of L Ron Hubbard (1911-1986).

Scientology addresses man as a spiritual being and gives people tools they can apply to their lives to improve conditions. Among these are the techniques for alleviating spiritual trauma contained in the book Dianetics, by L. Ron Hubbard.

Scientologists believe that the “reactive mind” (that portion of the mind that works on a totally stimulus-response basis, not under the volitional control of the individual) exerts force and the power of command over one’s awareness, purposes, thoughts, body and action.

Through spiritual counseling called “auditing,” Scientologists reduce and ultimately erase the power of the reactive mind. The reactive mind is of no benefit to the individual and is a source of irrationality, fears and nightmares. Its eradication achieves the State of Clear and brings to view the individual himself and is a landmark step in the full discovery of one’s true nature and in ultimately achieving full spiritual awareness and freedom.

The first Scientology church was established in Los Angeles in 1954, and today there are more than 6,000 Scientology churches, missions and groups in 159 countries around the world.

From where did you get this information ?
The whole purpose of keeping things as quiet as possible DURING birth is to prevent any trauma for the baby and mother
effecting them later,after the event.
Words and phases spoken during moments of pain and unconsciousness are recorded in the Reactive Mind and can cause both physical and emotional difficulties later. (e.g. post partum depression for the mother)
Birth is an extremely painful and uncomfortable experience for both mother and baby.
The whole subject is covered in the book Dianetic The Modern Science of Mental Health, Section: "Preventative Dianetics"

Once the baby is safely delivered this quiet environment is no longer necessary, so talking or making noise would be fine.
This has nothing to do with "beliefs" and everything go do with ensuring the future health and happiness of both mother and baby.
It is vital that mother and baby can get to know each other as soon as possible after delivery. Not talking to the baby for "24 hrs" would be awful for both parents AND the baby!!

Hope this clears things up for you on this subject.
Here also is a factual description of what Scientology is :

Scientology is an applied religious philosophy. When I say "applied" I mean you actually use it in your life to change or improve existing conditions. This is different from a religious practice. All religions if you learn about them have a basic philosphy, but they also have certain dogma, rituals and observances, and a certain faith or belief is required. There is nothing wrong with this, but Scientology is not that kind of religion. It does not intrude on anyones faiths of beliefs particularly in the area of God , the Supreme Being, or the Infinite. This area is left totally up to the indivdual, which is why you can be a practicing Jew,for example and still use and apply the priniciples of Scientology in your life. It does not conflict. If anything it will enhance your understanding of your chosen religious practice.
You can have no specific religious beliefs and still benefit from using it.
And it is only true for you according to your own observation and experience with it.
It is a non denominational religion . The dictionary definition that applies:
Religion: The spiritual or emotional attitude of one who recognises the existence of superhuman power or powers.

The most basic principle of Scientology is that YOU are your own immortal soul, that this is not a "thing" you HAVE but what YOU actually are.
The whole purpose of Scientology is to increase an individual's understanding and awareness of himself. And thereby his native abilities .
When you do this the sphere and zone of his positive influence increases and moves outward into his life, his family ,his friends, his groups and mankind which he is part of.

How this result is achieved is the "technology" of Scientology, which was developed by L.Ron Hubbard after his extensive research and the discoveries he made, about the human spirit. The basic religious philosophy and knowledge of Scientology is very old, going back 10,000 years at least to the Veda or Vedic Hymns from the East. The developement of the technology is new.
He completed his research before his death in 1986 and left all of his results and copyrights
to the Church of Scientology along with most of his considerable estate., when he died.

He published a book in 1951 to communicate the basic principles he discovered called: " Scientology The Fundementals of Thought"
There are currently over 8 million Scientologists in more that 150 countries world wide. However we are a new religion, only 53 years old.
The true story of Scientology as a religion goes like this:
1. A philosopher developes a philosophy about life and death.
2. People find it interesting.
3. People find it works.
4. People pass it along to others.
5. It grows.

first, it's best to be as a tolerant as possible of others and their beliefs. scientology is easily reserched on the web..don't overlook the google videos on topic, which paint a dark picture of the "cult" being caught up in intrigue, deception and far worse. few outsiders truly understand their practices and processes, but they seem to be expensive to access. their "mythology", as mentioned, is easily found, as noted above. it does stretch the limits of credibility. but, then, the founder did write science fiction. and, based upon what i've researched, probably was a top used car salesman, as well. enjoy your research.
