I'm guessing you are looking for something kind of like Jewel, acoustic guitar or piano with intelligent lyrics (that's the folk part), but with mainstream appeal (the pop part). Try Kathleen Edwards and Brandi Carlile. They have highly sing-able folk rock sounds. Search on myspace music for their names and listen to samples. Or search their names on google as they both have pages.

Oh, I guess there are male singers too :-) John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Five for Fighting, etc., would be poppy examples.

sarhibar has excellent taste...true folk. If you want to get out of "pop" mainstream sounds, the Indigo Girls have about 10 brilliant albums. Joni Mitchell would be the queen of folk--beautiful stuff. I can recommend particular albums but you gotta ask more specifically!

I can't imagine that by putting it under Beauty & Style>Hair, you're going to get any better answers than you did in Music.

lol

Try Lucy Kaplansky....love her stuff

Dar Williams is great as well.

Add on:

Thank you Isabelle, your taste is none too shabby! Listed many of my faves but I am on a Lucy Kaplansky kick right now...."Just You Tonight" has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever.
