I extremely have some concept of why an atheist may imagine i'm brainwashed, yet not one of the three factors you've annunciated has that a lot to do with it. base line is, regardless of the reality that if my mom and father did not tell me about God, i ought to have nicely-known about Him (and did study about Him) from what i'll make certain in advent. None of this can likely are starting to be the following by technique of itself (quite existence). It basically isn't a threat. so some distance as atheists being advised they're going to Hell, your aspect is largely moot. it is like saying that because the grass is eco-friendly in the present day, there could were little or no smog outdoors the day surpassed by. that's a non-sequitur. so some distance as comments from believers being from Scripture, so what? That proves not something except that those who quoted scripture quoted scripture. What does that could do with something, now to not coach with being brainwashed?? It don't have any connection.

1. Well, a lot of christians didn't become christians until they got older. I was forced to go to church as a child, but as an adult is when I really started to believe, as a child it's hard to grasp all that is written in the Bible. Adults are more able to fully comprehend what Jesus went through, and about the Old Testament.
2. I don't fear going to hell, No christian does, fear of hell isn't part of it. It's the love of a God that would do the things he has done for us. And being christians, knowing you are Athiests, we know you are going to hell because you havent accepted God into your lives and asked him to forgive you your sins. We also know some Athiests that has converted to christianity, after hearing the wonderful things.
3. Yes, we follow the Bible. Alot of the things we say are scriptures from the Bible because the best way to teach or tell about God is to tell about the Bible. It's not being brainwashed, it's that we want you, and everyone to know what the Bible says. What better way to tell of our faith, our religion, our God, than from scriptures. We've read our Bible, we continue to read it to help us grow as christians, and help others. Nothing wrong with that.

"1. The belief in God was ingrained in most of you at a very young age"
Pardon me for being a skeptic, but how exactly do we know that being a person of faith is "ingrained" rather than being "innate"?
"2. Plenty of Atheists have been told that they are going to hell."
So have plenty of theists been told they are going to Hell by Fundies of other sects.
"3. Lots of God believers comments are really not their own but bible scriptures"
That's called cultural literacy, not brainwashing. It's also popular to quote Shakespeare, but that doesn't mean there is some cabal of brainwashers out there programming us to think the Bard is cool.

Yeah I understand. For the most part it is mainly because you think that what little "knowledge" you had programmed into you is sooo sufficent that it will make life great without the guilt of sin. The truth is most atheist are a strong willed bunch that hate to break down the walls of liberal know it all thinking and learn about something that none of us really will know for sure till we die.The bible is an example to live by not a book made to condemn everyone to something you dont believe in anyways. It is odd though how cunning the atheist is till the death bed is rolled in.For instance the account given by a nurse at the time of Voltiares death she was with him till his last the doctor told her another patient was dying and she asked if this one was a believer and he said yes. She told him she refused to witness another atheist die for it was horrific as he grasped and held for this life and cried out in agony. Im sure many die the same way but if what atheist say is true we are all worm food the soul is nothing and we exist for nothing what the heck is the use of living then? With the condition of life if I were an atheist i would opt out on this madness the wars and stuff and just blow my head off there is no use here for us then we are only consuming air that is good for the trees and birds and other creatures. I hope this helps (theist) one that believes in God. (a) theist someone that thinks on the ground level and doesnt believe in God. (muse) to think and consider things. (a)muse to not think the lack thereof maybe atheists should go to amusement parks more takecare hope you ride doesnt get too bumpy on the way down

Yes, as a Christian I see why you think we are brainwashed. I am sorry for the Christians who bash you for believing, rather, not believing.
One of the biggest issues Christians have is that they can be very judgmental and condescending. Being a Christian doesn't turn you into a holier-than-thou, scripture babbling hypocrite, but that is the way Christians are perceived by certain atheists.
Religion is a heated debate whether you are talking about Christianity, Muslim, Catholics whatever. So it is understandable (not justifiable) that certain people throw your going to hell thing at you. You see nobody's perfect, and that includes us.
Well I said all that to say this: I am sorry if Christians annoy you, or if we get defensive about our right to believe in what the scriptures say... we are only human after all!
God Bless (sorry force of habit)
P.S.- to the dude who called the athiest "douches"- YOU ARE NOT HELPING!!

ok if my Holy Bible is false then how can you explain this....
1. In Daniel he clearly explains the Declaration of Independance
Daniel Chapter 7:4 states...."The first was like a Lion, and had eagles wings. I watched til it's wings were plucked off ; and it was lifted up from the earth and made to stand on two feet like a man, and a mans heart was givin to it.
Now if you know that the Brittish symbol is the lion and the U.S.A is the bald eagle it would not be hard to figure out and we have the man Uncle Sam.
2. How do you explain Revelation 6:8 now in the english translation it was messed up but only the color but it makes a big difference here the english version. In greek the color was chloros which is green that is where we get the word chlorophyll.
But it is well known it should state......So I looked, and behold a green horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given to him over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.
HMMMMMMMMMMMM. wonder who that could be ? Lets see Green is the color of Islam they have 1.2 billion people in their faith which is a fourth of the worlds population. What do they pefer? To kill by death. Ain't so hard to believe now is it? get educated before talking about something you don't know about.
If you would like me to show you more truth in these over 2000 year old prophicies then you can e-mail me and I would be honored to help you understand more. Good Luck cause I don't think we have much time til the mark of the beast with this whole national i.d. thing that we are supposed to get by May 11th 2008

They think we're being brainwashed because they don't understand the concept of faith.
1) I became religious in my teen years, BEFORE my parents.
2) Many Christians don't believe in Hell. Condemnation from some Christians should not speak for all.
3) If you were to believe in the authenticity of the Bible, you would appreciate the morals and principles it sets in order to live a happier life. One man should not rely on his own understanding -- a fact you may not be particularly familiar with, no offence.

yes i can understand why they would think that. That's when I pull out these babies
1. Many of the best pastors, evangelsists, miracle workers etc, were hard core druggies, murderers, or rapists and totally anti-christian up until a certian time in their lives
2. It's not fear that we should preach, but the Love of God that came to save us from that fear.
3. good for them! the bible has been around a lot and withstood more scrutiny longer than any of my christian friends. However, trying to prove the bible by using the bible is circular reasoning and therefore invalid. If yu must use something to prove the bible, it must be something in your own life: some miracle God did, God himself showing you somehting in the bible, or even research done by other researchers, creation scientist, etc, who use other means to prove the bible.

mmmhmm...yes
point one is true because yes the majority of God believers are ingrained with the idea at a very young age
.....but (as you probably already know) what about the people who decide to convert when they are much older?
and plus it is not like you have to follow the religion (well at least not Roman Catholic) you can drop it anytime you want.
point two is right.....yeah most of God believers do say atheists are going to hell........and duh fear is not absent in any religion, it is something unkown, we all fear the unknown.
point three is right also and you can even go as far as saying that most scientist aren´t what they are on their own beliefs but those of the few people before them, as well as mathematicians, and students. What did you expect....God believers are trying to LEARN what is given to us to believe because, naturally, sometimes we doubt, too.

Thank you, Fearless Weirdo...you make many good points. Here's the thing about it...there is no brainwashing to it. If it is inside you, you know it...and it leaves no room for doubt. Atheists do believe; in there own intellectual way...but they have it confused with religious dogma...which does leave room for error...can be questioned...and who wants to go to Hell? Not you, not me, not anyone. The good news is we aren't...because there are many, many truths we do not understand. Your belief can not be based on fear. It is a wondrous, loving thing. Don't forget, we all have our place in the world...and this exists for a reason. It is more about acceptance...for all of us...and this includes everyone without exception...for who are we to judge?
