By the time you get if flight-worthy about $4,000 to $6,000.

Just the engine cost more than that. A 40hp engine is about $6000.

It would be cheaper to build an ultralight, and alot safer, and alot faster, and they take off in a very short distance, pretty much the same area that you need to have clear for a helicopter.
