more or less like any other cactus. i have mine for about ten years. the root is pretty long and thick, so forget about having it in a shallow dish or pot, that is the only important difference known to me. During winter it tends to become wilted, you know, soft. this is normal, in the wild it would kinda shrink back into soil, actually. So if you experience this, dont try to water much, because it will not like it - winter is time for rest. At the beginning of spring it suddenly drinks up the water and hardens. It is not a big cactus. Other people say their does the same.I have seen them grafted on i-dont-know-what rootstock and these were huge - looked weird.
