My dog is part chow but mostly german shepard. She is about 2 years old and she never eats her food directly over her bowl. She would rather pick up a mouth full and bring it way in the other room, drop it all on the floor and eat it. And she just continues to go back and forth doing this. At first I thought it maybe because she was just so noisy that she wanted to know what was going on in the other room where I am. But I have moved her bowl into the living room where I usually am, and she does the same thing.

My dogs do the same thing. Makes a huge mess! It's kinda funny to watch them though. They run back and forth until all of their food is gone. It's not hurting anything and they get exercise so I leave them be.

My dog does the same thing if I've moved away from where her bowl is. I usually give her her dinner as I eat mine and that causes her to eat from her bowl. If there is food left over though, she will snack through the night and drag her food to any room there's a human in until she's done eating everything out of her bowl.

Mine does the same thing. Her bowl is clean. But she gets her mouth full of food and then brings it to the front room and spits it out and eats each piece seperate. Some times she will even roll all over it and then she will eat it.

I have a chow and he does the same thing...he takes a mouthful and either drops it in the middle of the living room floor to eat it or he gets on the couch and eats it...he's so precious.

For a dog to swallow its head has to be up, most dog bowls are at the wrong angle for dogs to eat from comfortably. So instead they either put it on the floor or take it someplace else and get comfortable to eat

That's a dog thing. I've NEVER met a dog that eats directly over their bowl. Mine usually carries her over to a rug or on my carpet and munches there. Weird.

My dog does the same thing sometimes. I don't know what it is. I also have to keep telling her to eat - she'll stop eating, come find me and stare at me. Then I say "Go eat!" and she runs into the kitchen.

Who knows what goes on in their heads?? lol

My Jack Russell does this too. Not quite sure why though. She seems to get enough to eat though so I wouldn't worry about it unless your pooch starts to lose weight. Come to think of it my parent's Boston Terrier does it too. Maybe they are just special!!
