Yes and no.
The baby isn't supposed to be for sale, but there are expenses with attorneys, adoption agencies, court fees, and other expenses.
No, selling a baby or buying one from the birth parents is illegal. However, oftentimes adoptive parents have paid for medical bills of the birth mother, and sometimes even living expenses. This falls along the slippery slope of ethics. It isn't right, and a child shouldn't be bought like property.

sadly enough, yes they do! My husband and I looked into adoption a little while ago. They can run into the thousands and not a couple, I am talking like $10,000 and up. The cost is more or less depending on what kind of adoption you want to have, if you agree to pay for the birth and bills of the paternal mom, and where the baby is located. If you want a baby that is out of country you are required to travel there to get that baby, not vis verse, and the visit lasts usually a couple of days, costing into the thousands alone. It is a long process with lots of costs included.

Adoption can be very expensive. It can range from $15,000.00 well into the millions (if you go private).
If you adopt through the state, via through being a foster parent, usually the state will pay you a monthly stipend. This is especially true if the child has special needs. Unfortunately, this can and does literally lead to foster and adoptive parents having these kids in their homes as a source of income.
It's very sad.

Adoption can be a long expensive process depending on what kind of baby you want. That's why a lot of people go out of the country. However you're still talking over 15 thousand.

Yes, through the nose. Most of the time the fees are legitimate to cover legal costs and such-of which you want done correctly and to the last minute detail to avoid heartbreak later. Then there are organizations who just want to take your money and hand you a kid. Bad idea, lose a lot of money and legally, the baby may not be yours later. Good luck.
