First off, ignore the first answer. Iteach 3 year old preschool...not all preschools are the nightmares you hear about... the kindergarten teachers at the elementary schools that our preschool graduates go to can always tell which kids come from our program because they are better prepared than 90% of the other kids starting kindergarten....with that said..
get out the phone book and look up childcare centers..don't forget about churches, lots have preschool programs.
call and ask questions...ask if you can be given a tour (if they don't want to do that, then you can cross them off the list immediately)
Ask around, neighbors, family members, etc. Even if they don't have kids they may know someone who does that you can talk to. Find out if other people are happy with their daycares.
Go tour a few places, meet the teachers and ask questions. then go with your gut feeling. You can tell by the tours which places are better than others. If there is something that doesn't feel right to you then cross that one off your list.
some questions to ask:
Disciplinary practices?
What is your curriculum like?
How structured are the classrooms?
How consistent is the daily routine?
How many children are their per teacher? (at the age of 3 there should not be more than 12 children to one teacher)
Make sure the age groups aren't lumped together. There should be separate classes for separate age groups. Be wary of any center that has kids from the ages of 2-5 all in one room/class.
That's my advice for what it's worth

As a guardian and a preschool informed instructor (who now remains at dwelling because of the economic climate), I will constantly consider within the value of preschool. Not best is your little one gaining social expertise and trust, he's constructing up his immune approach. Preschool is extra only a phrase to explain a little one being in a "institution" atmosphere earlier than basic institution starts. Once he's five he'll start Kindergarten. But he MUST be five years historic earlier than Sept. 1st or he'll have got to wait. Some districts present trying out for children who're tremendously able and switch five in Sept. My oldest has her bday in Sept however I decide upon for her to stick again that 12 months. Although her preschool lecturers discovered her academically competent, I didn't discover her emotionally competent. All of those matters have got to be considered. And if you're worried approximately him understanding the fundamental expertise earlier than beginning Kindergarten, I constantly advise speaking to the institution he'll be attending and identifying what the Kindergarten instructor demands him to grasp earlier than getting into (like letter cognizance, learn how to maintain scissors, and many others). Good success!

First start by asking other parents what the think of their toddler's school? Then conducted your research and when you narrow down three school; visit the school and talk with the teachers. I hope this helps. I know it sounds like a lot of work but our children eduction is very important.
