1. www.petfinder.com
2. Local rescues - petfinder is a good source for rescues or you can look online.
3. Local shelters. Smaller dogs are harder to find since they are adopted so quickly.
4. Petsmart and Petco often have dog adoptions on the weekends.
5. Talk to local vets in your area. They often have people who need to adopt out dogs there. Some vets also have bulletin boards where people can put up requests.
6. Talk to people who go to the local dog park about where they got there dogs. They can get you in touch with rescues in your area. Also, many dog parks have bulletin boards too.

I also found my dog on petfinder.com. You can have the dogs listed by breed, size, sex, etc. You can also specify how big an area to look in. They usually have pictures of the dogs, as well. Good luck.

Try your local animal shelter. Either look in the yellow pages or else go online to the ASPCA website and click on the link for shelter locator.

go to the local shelter, or SPCA, or even in a newspaper. Looking up at bulletin boards wouldn't hurt either

whatever you do DO NOT GET A PUPPY FROM THE MALL.!the malls get their dogs from puppy farms(they rape mother dogs until they are sterile then drop them at the pound) if you can get one of the big dogs from the pound because they are the ones who are put to sleep first.
