YES, you can...

Angel Chocolate Chip Cookies
White, soft, cake-like chocolate chip cookies

1 cup shortening
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 cups milk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C)

Blend the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cream of tartar.

Add the flour mixture alternately with the milk to the shortening mixture. Fold in the chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 10 minutes or until barely light brown at the edges.

Yes, just use white sugar...the cookies will be much lighter in color though. You can also add cocoa powder for chocolate chocolate chip cookies! Good luck.

Yes: You can just use white sugar instead, but of course they won't taste quite the same. HOWEVER - If you happen to have molasses, add 1-2 tablespoons of that and you'll get it a lot closer.

Yes, but they won't have the same consistency or flavor as the ones made with brown sugar. They will taste "different" not bad, just "different"

You can, but they're not as good. YOu can make your own brown sugar, but often makes the cookies richer.

try substituting the same amount of honey for the brown sugar.
most people don't stock molasses in their pantry (white sugar + molasses = brown sugar).

another substitute is maple syrup for the brown sugar.

You can but the white sugar will make them crisp and they will taste much sweeter.

yes you can. Just buy the cookies in the roll already made up, cut them and bake them. No need to add brown sugar :)))
