I had asthma since I was born 10 years ago, the last REALLY bad SEVEER asthma attack I had was when I was around 7 or 8. My parents died a few weeks ago and since then my asthma just keeps getting worst and worst, it's starting to feel as bad as it did when I was 7 or 8. I lost my inhaler and there's absolutely no way to the hospital, what should I do. How long does asthma last, does it ever just go away cause it got my sisters and brother real scared and now i'm kind of scared to, I don't know what's gonna happen. Could you please tell if Asthma ever goes away!

Some people can and do outgrow their asthma
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease aka COPD
IS NOT THE SAME AS ASTHMA they are two different types of lungs diseases. COPD is usually caused by SMOKING.

Slow relaxing breaths, hot steam from a shower, or inhaling black coffee fumes sometimes helps to open up the lung passages

Asthma is an allergy and is triggered by something. The best non medication treatment for asthma is learning your triggers and avoiding them. Common triggers are smoke, dust, mold, mildew, plants, dust mites, pets and grass/weeds.

If you can not figure our your triggers, you may need to see an allergist and have allergy screening done. This may point out your triggers.

The National Asthma Prevention Program and the Expert Panel of Diagnosis and Management of Asthma both agree if you have to use a prescription inhaler such as albuterol more then two time per week, your asthma is NOT in control and you will need a prescription controller medication.

Controller medications are steroids (Asthmacort Asthmanex, Flovent, Pulmocort), Leukotriene modifier (Singulair, Aculade, Zyflo) or mast cell stabilizers (Cromolyn sodium, Intal, Tilade).

You may want to talk to your doctor about several strong controller medications and maybe Xolair shots.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

Please stay calm. I have asthma and mine flares up whenever I have any phisical strain. No one has found a cure for it yet. It can lessen but it never really goes away. But you do need to go to the doctor, your inhaler can save your life. I know you probably don't have money to go, but social services can help you. Your athsma is probably getting really bad because of the emotional stress. It will ease in time. But for now when you feel it acting up, take deep breaths and focus on breathing. It helps a little. Just don't freak out, it will make it worse. Sometimes heat and humidity will make it worse too, so try to stay where it is cooler.
By the way I am really sorry about your mom and dad. :((
I hope you feel better.

Asthma is a disease of the lung - it is sometimes also refered to as chronic obstrutive pulmonary disease. It never just goes away. Symptoms lesson, and you can grow out of how severe it gets at times, but it sounds like yours is flaring up again due to stress. You need to see a doctor about getting the proper medications you need to control your asthma. Otherwise it will just continue to get worse and worse. Home remedies include drinking a warm caffinated drink, like coffee. I don't drink coffee, so I drink a warm cup of tea (I also have asthma). But ultimately, you need a bronchodialator and maybe a steroid at this point. Get to a doctor.
