Whatever you do on you're visit - do not go to sleep, since you're staying so shortly, enjoy every second of it - it is the MOST amazing city in the world, and after all it's the city that never sleeps. Start downtown and take time to walk around Chinatown and Little Italy. Eat in a restaurant in each of those. Visit Canal St. and you will see a ton of action especially with knock-off vendors that you can bargain with to the max - you can get what you want for the price you want; but be advised, the perfume does not smell the same as the real thing. While in Little Italy visit Mulberry Street, it has a row of restaurants and Italian vendors; the street is sometimes closed off to cars and gives the feel of an old Italian "block party". Definitely do the touristy things like visit the Empire State building, it's a staple thing to do. Also, for a tour of the city, I hear the Circle Line tour is amazing - it's a boat tour that lasts a few hours and circles the city to give you great views and tons of info. See the Statue of Liberty of course. For fun things to do at night, since you won't be sleeping, go to a comedy club - Caroline's and the Laugh Factory are pretty good ones. Also try to get into a Broadway play to feel the sense of theater New York. Times Square is hopping at all hours of the night and there is always something to see around there. Walk through Central Park and enjoy all it has to offer, maybe even the zoo. Walking up 5th Ave. is a ton of fun, especially if you have extra money to spend! There's a little restaurant off of 3rd Ave and 60th street called Serendipity it was featured in the movie Serendipity and Oprah once had it on her show. Go there for lunch, there's usually a wait so go before you want to eat and then spend your wait at my favorite spot in the city, Bloomingdales, which is adjacent to the restaurant. This restaurant has amazing, diverse sandwiches and great frozen desserts, it's so good. Visit the wax museum, Madame Tusads (not sure if that's spelled correctly) - it's not a NY essential but its in the heart of the city and is still a fun trip to make. And definitely ride the Subway, down there you'll also encounter some amusing sideshows. Have a great time and enjoy your trip!
P.S. I'm serious, don't sleep!!!

Walk along Fifth Avenue along Central Park. Go to the Met. If you like museums big and small, visit The Cloisters. Take the ferry to Staten Island. Costs about a quarter and you get the most precious view of Manhattan.

If you walk around Central Park South, I'd recommend visiting the famous toy store, F.A.O. Schwarz (featured in the old Tom Hanks movie, Big.) I don't even have kids, but the kid in me enjoys it. BTW - it's an incredible experience at Christmas! Like entering into a child's dream!
Also - when in that area, when I have to go to the bathroom, I like to go the restrooms in the super glitzy hotels there. Can't remember their names, but there's one right across from FAO Schwarz (maybe it's The Plaza?), and a couple on that stretch (Central Park South).
I think St. Patrick's cathedral is within walking distance of this area.

you can go see all that touristy stuff so you can tell everyone that you did it. and THEN, you can do the real new york stuff: go into the village and walk around, go to a cafe or a random bar on houston street. go to the maritime hotel for drinks (beautiful! such a new york "scene" too) or the meatpacking district. don't be afraid to explore beyond times square (its so obnoxious, i really don't get why anyone would want to spend more than 10 minutes there anyway). have funnnnnn!

Do you like dumb touristy stuff or fun real city stuff?
I'd just go hang out down in Greenwich village all day - maybe go to a museum or the library. Go to the Kettle of Fish for a drink or five and go to dinner somewhere and then go see a band - cap it all off with a giant pastrami sandwich at Katz's

Try a show on Broadway (go to the Marriott around 6PM, to get tickets half their prices, 46th st.), go to Herald Square/ Lexington Av. for shopping. Take a ride in a cab to Central Park and afterwards, go to a good restaurant like Surya (Indian restaurant in Greenwich).

long island city is the main extraordinarily populated city interior the U. S.. It makes statistical experience that it could have the optimal abortion fee....i could be shocked if a low populated city had a extreme abortion fee. which you will answer your question, no i'm no longer 'shocked' to benefit that. as far as 'their concentrated on specific ethnic communities'...that's loopy. they'll take fee from any pregnant females who meets the factors to have an abortion and who chooses to accomplish that. you're asserting that obtaining an abortion isn't presented or stated as an determination with white females even with the undeniable fact that that's with black females? that's ridiculous. Take an information path and you will comprehend this extra proper...oh, and take a grammar/writing/english type as properly.

Forget Times Square, you'll just be another annoying tourist to us NYers. Do you really need to come to NYC to see a Naked Cowboy?
Go down to Union Square and hang out, take a walk through Washington Square Park, relax in the village..trust me, you'll have more fun and see more interesting things and people.
