iso is an image of a cd/dvd
there are many other images like the extension ".iso"
for example ".nrg" etc
neways lets get to the point
i have been using daemon tools since i came to know abt iso
and i will recommend you this software because it supports lotsa image formats
u can download it for free from here

and yeah after u download
install it then you will see a small icon at the bottom left of the screen
the icon will be red and yellow
you right click it
go to "virtual cd/dvd rom
then go to "device : 0 [I:] no media"
then click "mount image"
then select the iso
then go to my computer click the new cd rom icon that might have appeared
there it is
u r all done

WinRAR 3.6 is capable of opening the ISO file as a ZippedFile to show its content straightway & extract if needed.
These r standard Optical Disc Image Files that r burnt on their Optical Media using burning s/w like Nero, etc.
