hi i had a golden, they are the BEST dogs, i have NEVER seen one be nippy or in any way mean. in fact mostly they are the opposite. mine wanted my attention so much she was always under my feet, and i started calling her roadblock! Golden's are the type of dog that needs to be around people, they do not like to be kept in a kennel outside, in the yard (its really bad for their coats)
Golden's need to be brushed once a day, and groomed periodically, depending on how you like the coat, I liked mine longer, so I only took her every 6 months.
One bad thing about Golden's..... they tend to get hip displasia, which is very painful, it mostly bothers them when they get older. so check with the breeder to see if the dog you get has a history of it in its pedigree.
I adopted my Golden from a Golden retriever rescue, and she was about 6 years old, she was wonderful with me and my young kids, i would highly recommend a golden to anyone who has time and energy to give the dog, they are very energetic dogs who need exercise everyday, mine LOVED to go for walks, but wouldn't retrieve a ball.... anyway good luck, i think you will be pleased if you do get one.

I have a 7-month old golden retriever. She is very very active. She loves to go for walks and in the car. At home, she can be a pest by following me everywhere and wanting to play all the time. She is getting mellower though with age. By the time she is 2 she should be settled down. She is a great dog but I've had mutts that were more manageable. My bf used to have a golden retriever that lived 17 years. This is the only kind of dog he would even consider haveing. So if you have the time and energy I do recommend a golden retriever.

Golden Retrievers are wonderful dogs! They are loyal, smart, good with other dogs, gentle with people --- especially children and very easy to train!! They are large, "dorky" and very affectionate!! On the down side, they act like puppies for the first few years and they shed a lot requiring a lot of brushing!!

I had a Golden Retriever, and she was just the most wonderful dog ever!!! I had her for 13 years!

Now I have a Golden retriever mixed breed, and she is almost 4 months old. I have no doubt she will become a wonderful dog too!!

They are pretty, kind, patient dogs that love exercise, to swim, and are generally tolerant of kids. However, they are expensive, often have high medical bills starting at age 7 or so, and die relatively young. They also shed a lot. The wisest move would be to adopt one of the many retriever mix dogs from any shelter. You are not only saving a life, but it will likely not have the genetic problems that pure goldens may have.

Golden Labrador? you need to represent Yellow Labrador. besides, i do not recognize each and each and every of the a lot about Labs, yet i do study about Goldens... a million) A 30-minute walk in the morning and at evening is truly no longer adequate exercising for the canines. Goldens are ball-loopy, so that you'll finally end up out in the exterior tossing a ball for him for hours and hours and hours until eventually he/she flops down exhausted. 2) Goldens are commonly striking with youthful little ones, yet ought to be supervised at the same time as round them until eventually you've found out what variety of temperament the canines has. Even the sweetest of breeds has lemons. can help around the homestead? In what way? for better records on Goldens, click the links i have coated in "sources".

Retrievers in general are great dogs. Friendly, protective, and energetic. Be warned, though, they do retrieve, and some of it you may not want it dropping at your feet.

They are a lovely breed. They are not vicious, very loyal and lovable, and are protective. My friends have one, and although he is getting on in years (he is nearly twelve, which is unusual, as these sort of dogs only tend to live for 8-10 years on average) he is a very gentle dog, and is fiercely protective of my friend when her husband is at work. They are very intelligent and brave, although the particular dog I know hides it well!
