Atheists and intellectuals - surely you have extensive personal libraries of books you can consult.

I should be more specific. I am not looking for a comment on Christ - just the significance of logos in general.

A true intellectual would be able to expound at length on the 'logos.' I'm disappointed.

Let me explain ... he recently read a book, saw a television program, or attended a Bible study in which he was introduced to the term 'logos', in St. John's work this is applied to the "Word". So, in a desperate attempt to prove himself to be "intellectual" and "wise" he has posed a question of little or no significance and without offering any real concrete details as to what he would like in response, solely for the opportunity to show off his new found knowledge.
Congratulations. Next time read a real book.

Well I'm not an atheist or intellectual and I'm not even sure I'm referring to what you cited but here's my best shot:
In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and all things were created thru the Word. The Word came into the world but the world knew Him not......
To me that means Jesus is the Word of God and thru him all things were created. The Spirt of God always has been. Part of the great mystery of the Trinity.
I don't know a lot, simply what I believe. I'm learning every day and hoping to grow in knowledge and faith.

The "Word" spoken of here is not a book or series of writings or even a specific word in their vocabulary at that time but rather is symbolic of Jesus Christ Himself. There is no beginning therefore to the "word" but He existed before time and is even not constrained by time because in eternity past to eternity present then time is not relevant as there is no way to measure it or even define it.

That he is the word, or materialization of God, God's revelation, He in the flesh? What do you want us to comment about though? Ultimately, it still is a book, written by a man. Why does it have any more truth to it than any other book ever written? I do respect your faith and belief though, I just don't share it.
