Anyone have suggestions on keeping the dog's water dish away from my toddler while still keeping it available for my dog? It's too hot to only have it out some of the time.

mine ate the dry dog food ... no matter what I did where there's a will there's a way ......so they also got to it ...plus water and kids is a natural mix.. they go together ...i say let them go make sure it's fresh water and it will wear off they lose interest in things they can do.

Put the dish in a cabinet or something that has a narrow entrance way that only your dog can fit through. Or keep your dog in one room while your child is out and put the water with it.

through out the water when the dog is finished and put the dish away as dogs carry diseases that can be very harmfull to children i even had a cousin who choked to death on dogs hair he was only 7 years old.

Can you feed your pet in an area (like the kitchen) and buy a baby gate to keep out the baby? The dog might come to resent the baby if he's always around his food or water.

You dont. Your toddler is going to explore whether you like it or not. You could try telling him/her its yucky but whatever. Between me and you(and the 1000+ other people who may see this), I drank out my dog's water bowl as a child and I have two degrees, two wonderful kids, and a great job. However, I do tend to chase the occassional cat.(kidding)
