Everyone criticizes the UN, but imagine if there was no UN. Leaders wouldn't even have a place to go to raise issues that affect everyone. The world would be much more chaotic and lawless than it is now. The UN is absolutely vital; it needs to be supported; it needs to be strengthened.

I think U.N.has become impotent now. It is powerless and bias and has strong tendency of inclination towards U.S. for everything from word to word. Actually, haven't seen U.N. being stringent enough against any of the U.S. policies, barely any. U.N.is infact, blind-folded by the U.S's dominancy and manipulative approach based on some mere exaggerated speculations about the issues of today, which is actually a very clever way of seducing U.N. to believe US and function on it's unfounded assumptions. The misguidance of the U.N. by U.S. would eventually bring nothing but disbelief in the U.N. power aound the world. Besides middle east, Korea is already along the aisle of disobedience.

They are not even adequate enough to deal with their own problems. They really need a shake up or a shake down which ever works to regain any credibility they may have had. An Organization like the UN is needed, but this group has become too corrupt and the cancer may be too deep.

No. UN is an organization that is rigged to begin with.
Even the rigged one does not work.
Kofy Anan definitely must go. He has no initiative, no power, and no stance.
You need a strong secretary general, that can use world opinopn to its advantage, and muscle the countries that are law breakers into submission to accept the UN resolutions, and or General assembly resolutions. Then we may have a chance at some order, and peace in the world. May be!
