bc the coal companies are laying off all of their employees. You have to have coal to make gas. No workers. No coal production. No gas. They have no choice to raise the prices.

Blame Georgy my ***. First of all it should be why are gas prices so high. And second off all its not George W.'s fault. I dont get you hypicritical liberals. First you say were only over in Iraq because George W. is an oil hog, then you say its his fault we dont have oil and that gas prices are so high. Come on people. Oil is not an endless supply and as for the high prices blame that on the oil companies. In the mean time you should just be happy were paying lower prices then any other country, and stop bitchin and crying and trying to always put someone at fault for everything wrong. **** happens live with it.

Because we waste almost as much as we use. City buses running around with 2 and 3 passengers, unused green light at intersections, truck weigh stations, truck load limits variation in each state (80,000-160,000lbs), speed humps on bus routes, 4 way stop signs, Smart Car deemed unsafe by DOT but safe in 30 other countries. It's the dumb voters that are the reason why gas prices are so high.

Because we continue to pay them. The oil companies have finally realized that we have no choice but to pay for gasoline. They are making great profits and I doubt we will ever see gas below $3.00 per gallon ever again. Really I don't see the bad in this, we are a capitalist society and this is capitalism in motion, working just as designed and I am very happy to be in a country where you can make an unlimited amount of money on a product that everyone wants/needs.

Because we're using another country's gas source. What would help gas price's go down is to get gas at little local stores not Exxon and all those other big gas station names.

Simple mathematics. We do not build any refineries or explore for oil in the US for over 30 years and every time some one tries to build a refinery or explore for oil the environmentalists and the "not in my backyard" crowd goes wild. We are now importing gasoline since our refineries have to run at 100% of capacity to supply most of our demand. The real question should be what are we going to do about the energy crisis that has been around since the 70's which every one has ignored.
