I could answer this question in so many ways, especially since my last "pain and suffering" was being run over by a train and drug down the track in excruciating pain by my right leg for about 200 feet before it was severed before my eyes and my back was "skinned alive" by the gravel or ballast that it was drug over in that 200 feet. The way people talk about me, I must have not lost my faith in God since I've "handled" the loss of my right leg "so well", and I must agree with them. But then, what would the option be. To sit in self pitying misery for the rest of my life over something that could not be undone, and not reach out to THE Greatest Power Ever, God, to help me understand why I, a long distance runner and very long distance bicycle rider whom everyone at work and in our circle of friends knew to be a man with very powerful legs, should lose the very thing that gave me so much enjoyment and recreation? No way!! Being the reasoning and reasonable man that I like to think I am, I want to know how to accept what God gave me, and, if possible, be told why. BUT, most important, to accept what He gave me, whether it was what I wanted or not. And remember, that train accident was just the last of a long list of sheeiiiitttttttttt that's happened in my life. So much has happened that my son said he thought I was Superman to have lived through so much. Even the medical field is surprised, as they so clearly stated after a HUGE bicycle accident in a race that required two brain surgeries, back to back due to blood clots developing. One of the surgeons said, "You had a 5% chance of living through both surgeries and being anything other than a vegetable." A subequent professional who gave me a very well known psycho-neurological exam about a year or 18 months after the surgeries, said, "I'm starting out at the top 10% of the questions and going up. I never get this high with my clients. Either you never had the accident you claim to have had, or your recovery is miraculous." Those were his exact words, and he put them in a report to my employer when they were worried about my ability to do the job. I definitely kept my job. So, how do you regain your faith in God. Stop trying to have things your way. God intends to have His Way with you, and that's one fantastic thing, even if the suffering's a ***** to handle! When you quit fighting God, He'll tell you more and more, but you have to just shut up, sit back, get quiet, and be patient. He's gonna tell you. You just have to listen more than you do to some damn tv or ipod or computer or whatever. He speaks to you in a different way. And that's no bullshit!! I know. And my life is absolutely fantastic right now. I know He's got other "challenges" up ahead for me. I just hope I shut up and follow his instructions. It'll be a lot easier and more productive if I do. God Bless you. And that's not just a whimsey wish. I truly want God to Bless you. Funny thing is, He probably already has. You just haven't been listening. God Bless you and God keep you.

I would say...
>>Learning IF God causes pain and suffering - Job 34:10 "...Therefore, you men of heart, listen to me. Far be it from the [true] God to act wickedly, And the almighty the act unjustly!"
Also, in James 1:13 it further emphasizes this point: "When under trial, let no one say: 'I am being tried by God.' For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone"
>>Learning about WHAT can become of us if we endure - Revelation 2:10 "Do not be afraid of the things you are about to suffer. Look! The Devil will keep on throwing some of you into prison that you may be fully put to the test, and that you may have tribulation ten days. Prove yourself faithful even to death, and I will give you the crown of life."
>>Learning WHAT he has in store for faithful Christians -- Psalm 37:10,11 "And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace."

I've gone through a lot of pain and embarrassment also. I've learned to put things behind me and leave them there. Theirs always tomorrow and each day we can dwell in the past and pain or live and love ourselves. You need to know that even when you were going through God was with you all the time. We have trials and he never gives us more than we can handle. Learn from your pain you might be able to help someone else one day who is going through the same things that you have. That is when you know God has been with you all the time because he never left you. Understand and give him a chance!!!! You know what I think sometimes that there is always someone going through worse pain that what I have and believe me there are people suffering everyday. But who suffered more than all of us? Jesus our savior. Be strong have faith you are loved!!!

Understand that Earth is a negative planet and we are here to experience not only joy -- but pain. Those who have passed on are actually in a better place and we should find peace that we will one day join those loved ones. Know that every human being has some type of pain/loss in their lives eventually. It's what you do to pick yourself back up and move on that counts. Help someone else who needs guidance --- you might even renew their faith in God -- and in turn yours get renewed also.
Be well and know that God is all loving!

First of all, somethings you should not do :
1. read bible
2. go to priest and commit sins (are they really sins?)
3. Follow the answers here
Please ask ur self about the need to believe in GOD. Is it becoz most of the ppl do? Then, pls be aware that they are blindly believing becoz they could not find an alternate way. More importantly, they desire something...more wealth, more riches or , atleast more happiness.
Since you say that you have endured much pain in ur life, its gud.
Ask urself the same Q over and over gain , forgetting about the blind believers surrounding u. U should resound with this question...Then the answer is neither YES nor NO....You will never ask any questions. The question itself will disappear.
"You will start following ur own experience"
Be neutral and belive in your own experience , not in GOD.

Perhaps you should read the Bible, specifically, Romans 8, this world is filled with suffering because of sin. That should come as no surprise to anybody who knows God. The Christians life is not here, but in heaven, this is a training ground for heaven.

First, realize that it has not been god that has caused your suffering. there's some scriptures you can read about what God really has for you
Then, it just takes you building a relationship with Jesus. This is hard at first, but just try talk to him a bit, pray to him, ask him to heal you, or help you. And try thanking him for everything. even the tiniest thing, and you will see how much it helps.
It also might help if you talk to a pastor or something

For one I do not feel that God inflicts pain upon any one person. God does at times exercise His wrath upon mankind as in Sodom or with the Flood but most human problems are brought on by our own fallacies and sinful nature. God permits evil to exist for a time but that time will one day end. Time however is not a concept of God but of man as when you think of eternity past and forward then time, as we know it, has no concept. That said Faith in God or being in God's will doesn't guarantee that you will immediately see an end to suffering but it does give you a way to re-evaluate that suffering and that will make it easier to bear and understand. Realize that God is not responsible for your Suffering but God can comfort the suffering and make it easier and better to understand and live life but to know God is to have Faith in God. The promise of God, to those that Love Him and maintain their faith in Him, is that in time and one day all suffering will end but being human is to suffer and experience suffering.

He never left you...
Matthew 28:20 ........and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
You will have troubles....
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
but they're temporary...
Rev 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
He's right here.
James 4:8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.
