It's not morally correct. It's like a form of theft... you are "stealing" your employer's time and money by not doing what you are being paid to do. You may not think it's a big deal, but where do you draw the line when it comes to stealing? If you owned a business and paid someone $18.00 an hour to do a job.... would you want them to do what you paid them to do... or would you agree to pay them $18 an hour to surf the net for a new job? It's quite simple if you put their shoes on your feet. You should respect your employer not to steal from him and respect yourself not to do immoral things. If you are unhappy with your current job, you should surf the net on your own time.

Not at all. In fact, a large percentage of job seekers actively look for jobs while they're still employed. If you think about it, the best time to look for a job is when you already have one. Then you can take your time and pick a good one. If you start looking when you get laid-off, you will be forced to pick the first one that comes along, which quite often isn't the best one!

No, I look at them just to make sure I am not getting fired or replaced, and I am always looking for a new and better job on the internet anyway. So I think it is ok!

Looking for jobs while at work can be dangerous. If you are caught, some companies will let you go. The other people that have answered are correct that searching for another job while still employed is a smart idea. I am about to do that myself.

Do you mean searching for jobs while you're at your current place of employment? If so, we are not allowed to do that at my office. They have monster.com blocked (probably some other ones too) and Internet traffic is monitored for keywords in searches. Not to mention, they can easily tell what websites you visit.

It's not weird but it's irresponsible. If your company is networked, your Computer Administrator can see everything every computer is doing on the net. Do you want that information held over your head or getting back to your boss before you are ready to give notice?

Unless your prepared for your current job to end before you want it to, I'd avoid this one. Using company computer for personal use can get you fired.

You should not do this unless you are ready to be fired before you are ready to leave. You are not supposed to do any searches unrelated to your job. Your company has the right to see your history on your computer. Be careful.

I have, but remember, they can trace the websites you visit if they want to.
You might get busted for not working on the clock, then fired!
