Saying sorry is hard because it means you have to admit that you are in the wrong and you are asking the other person to forgive you. I don't think you should say sorry if you don't believe you are at fault because this devalues a genuine apology when you are at fault.
If someone says their mother has died for example, it's easy to say 'sorry' but you actually mean, I'm sorry that you should be in such a terrible situation, I feel sorry for you. You should say the longer phrase rather than just saying sorry. show people that you care by telling them rather than saying sorry.
If you walk into someone or say something rude to them then you need to apologise.

I believe because people dont want to feel rejected. Saying sorry is a big confession of emotions. And some people do not want to be hurt by showing one of the most important things that we can express.

Because it takes a humble heart to say sorry that means taking aside your own pride and ego which is not an easy thing to do and maybe you are afraid to say sorry because the person you ask for it may not accept it but instead throw it back to your face but otherwise, saying sorry is good; it releases you from guilt or shame.

it is really strange, I think that it is an involuntary reaction, when we were growing up our parents taught us good manners and that included apologising even when as children we were in the right and others where in the wrong just because they were "your elders" i have said sorry when it is clearly the other persons fault. it is like apologising for being there in the first place.
Now i make sure that i am in the wrong before i apologise, i do get a few funny looks especially from the older generation when they bump into you and expect you to apologise, they think that because they are older they have more right and we should apologise for being younger.
sorry!! but we have got to last longer than them they perhaps should apologise for damaging something that has got to last.

i agree with you on how you feel, coz when someone tells me not' to apologize as its not your fault' ,iam apologizing knowing fully well that the perpetrator is not going to. dah!!
some people say this as they do not fully understand what it means so i never correct them as they will be saying it the best way they know how,you must not be overly offended by it.its a minor grammatical error left too long in society to be corrected.
i personaly do not say sorry when i also feel that i am in the right so no hard feelings when you think you are owed an apology its probably you who must say sorry. its just a bit funny if you really look at it. as my father says''you must only get angry at someone you care about''.

People who are egotistical with a lot of pride are the ones that tend not to be able to say sorry..because it would mean lowering yourself. and these people just cant do that.

because to say sorry for something you've cause is like admitting your wrong and for most people that hard. I don't think that it's really hard to say Sorry...its hard to say it and mean it. Most peole say it because they feel they have to...not beacasue they really are sorry or want to.

Sorry is the hardest word to say. I think it has something to do with that song by Elton John.
