Well, first you must understand that Jesus was the son of God. Jesus never asked anyone to worship him, but did want to lead people to His Father, God. In Exodus, God said "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me." (Exodus 20:2-3). The truth is that God does love you and Jesus died on the cross so that you could have eternal life. All you have to do is to accept Him.

Elliot,
You are correct. Jesus never, ever said that. As a matter of fact, Jesus distinctly said that he was NOT born of God but was human, just like you and me.
However, the Christian faith is based on the erroneous epistles written by Saul of Tarsus (St. Paul...), who supposedly had a vision on the road to Damascus, Syria, in which he claimed to have the premonition that Jesus was the Savior of All Mankind. He wrote these letters to all the churches of the Byzantine Empire in the proposition that Jesus was the son of a virgin and the son of God himself. All of these ideas were given many years after the death of Yeshua bin-Joseph (Jesus Christ...).
Jesus himself never, ever said these things. These ideas only came later as a result of a political move by "St. Paul" in which he attempted to stick a thorn in the side of the Romans to make them pay for what they did to Jerusalem.
All because he wanted to make a little more money before he died....
End of story.

Right, Satan left Jesus when Jesus told him, "It is YHWH you must worship , and it is to him alone you must render sacred service." Matthew 4:10
As far as the term, 'I am', it is ambiguous. If Jehovah said, 'I am', or 'I shall prove to be what I shall prove to be,' and He did, and YHWH also said about Jesus 'This is my Son, listen to him.'...then "I am", means I exist, especially when Jesus said it.
Everyone on earth can say 'I am'...I am white, I am happy, I am brown, I am something, I exist!!! It does not prove Jesus is his Father, when he said that. Jesus said to his Father, "glorify me with the glory I had alongside you before the world was.'
John 17:5
Jesus also asked his Father to make all his disciples ONE, just as they were ONE. Does this mean all his disciples become part of a trinity? No, just united in purpose, in the worship and will of the Father. John 17:20-23.

Matthew 28: 16-20, known by Christians as "The Great Commission." Verses 18 & 19 especially apply to your guestion.
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’

If I am not mistaken we go to the Father in His Name (Jesus). But we worship the Father. That is how we know the Father is through Jesus. He was with Him from the beginning and still is, with Him that is.

I don't understand your question, have people been telling you to worship Jesus and not God? Can't you just read the Bible yourself, and now worry about what other people say?

Oh no!
"....The (Biblical) passages where Jesus talks about the Son of God are later additions.... what the church said about him. Such a claim of deity for himself would not have been consistent with his entire lifestyle as we can reconstruct. For the first three decades after Jesus' death Christianity continued as a sect within Judaism. The first three decades of the existence of the church were within the synagogue. That would have been beyond belief if they (the followers) had boldly proclaimed the deity of Jesus."

It says nowhere to worship Jesus; in fact the Bible tells us to Worship God. I wouldn't listen to Trinitarians; they really don't know the Bible very well; they misinterpet or confuse people with their teachings.

Luke 4:8 = "And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shall thou serve."
John 4:22-24 = "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
Rev.14:6-7 says the same thing; it points back to the 4th commandment in Exodus 20:8-11. (Sabbath = Saturday according to Calendar, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, etc.)

John 18:37
'"You are a king, then!" said Pilate. Jesus answered, "You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth."'
John 14:6
"I am the way and the truth and the light. No one comes to the Father except through me."
John 14:9
"He who has seen Me has seen the Father”
Jesus never pretended to be less than who He was, and He made it clear that He was the only way to God, and the only way to eternal life. But He didn't come to earth to be worshipped. He came to save US! He came becasue God loved us and sent Him to pay for our sins. Christ was truly humble; He would not have demanded worship. He came not to rule but to set an example for how we ought to live.
Matthew 20:28
"For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
John 6:38
"For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me."
Luke 19:10
“For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
I Peter 2:21
“Since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps”
