go to a bird or pet store and tell them your situation. i did this.
they'll probably tell you to get some baby bird food and mix it with water.. and then feed the bird with a eye dropper. if the bird is injured then you'll have to watch over it.

Having some experience with birds myself, I would suggest you leave the little bird in a place where the mother bird (or father) can still get to it. It depends sometimes on what kind of bird it is; some birds do not eat meat (worms, cat food or dog food), some eat seeds, corn, etc. Most of the time when the little birds fall out of the nest, they are almost ready to fly. You may not see the mom or dad, but they know where their babies are, and they will feed them; and sometimes lead them to a safer place. We have mockingbirds that do this all the time in our yard, and if any other animal or person gets too close to their baby they wil fly down and "dive-bomb" the animal or person. The old adage about birds won't take care of it's own if it smells humans-is usually false (it still depends on the type of bird it is).

Keep your cats in the house or penned up for awhile (a day maybe two) just to make sure the baby bird is safe from them.
Nature is a wonderful thing; it knows how to take care of itself without any help from us people.
(Of course, just a little guidance doesn't hurt either-so keep the cats away for awhile!)

First of all dont be feeding it anything. You were right about moving it to a safer place and if the parents are near by they will come and care for it. If you are sure that the parents are not around then call your local Vet and see if they have a list of people who are licensed to take over the care of the baby bird.

Just becaused you ouched it and moved it will not cause the parents to not care for it, I know there will be someone here who will say or think that if you touched it that the parent will smell your human scent and not go near the baby, that is a lie and dont know who started a rumor like that, but parent birds are very caring birds. They do not reject their babies form a person touching it. If that be the case then bird breeders like me would never be able to handle our new baby birds, which we do everyday and the parents havie no problem with it.

If you have canned animal food, and you feel you must feed it, feed it a little bit of that. Since you have a cat, maybe you have the good canned cat food? Put a little bit on a fork and feed it a little at a time, so it won't choke.
I once took care of a baby bird, and it was VERY rewarding. You can teach it how to fly, and become like a mother to it. You should most definately ask if you can take care of it. My parents let me, and I kept it in my room in an old bird cage I had. (I had 3 cats at the time, and they didn't bother the bird much).
Plus, this bird seems abandoned, so it might just die out there in the end. If you don't want it to die, then you might want to take care of it.
(Its really awesome when it learns how to fly, because it will stay with you until one day he flys away, but its still rewarding. I used to throw the bird up in the air, and it would fly to my shoulder. It was very adorable.)

Four days ago I found a baby Robin Redbreast in my yard and I put it in a cage. Give it crushed up/ground up (in a coffee grinder if you have one) dry cat food mixed with water, yogurt, and maybe some crushed up hard boiled egg. Feed the bird with a syringe. The baby I found was still just a baby and opened its beak like they do in the nest and I squirted food in. The father bird, which is the one who feeds the Robin babies, was around so I would put little birdy out and Papa would come with food and feed it. I fed it too and kept it inside at night. Robins like worms and bugs, the real stuff but your bird may not as much. My birdy would start squacking for food at 6 or 7am and I took care of it like a child. Yesterday it could fly a little and flew to a nearby tree and I spotted it today in the tree and Papa bird was coming to give it food. Love it!

I've heard that a baby bird's parents won't care for it if he smells like a human, plus it would be hard for the parents to find the baby if you moved it. (They might have even kicked him out of the nest.) If he is really young, he can't eat whole worms or bugs yet anyway. Maybe there is a local bird rescue or wildlife group you could look up in the phonebook, and ask them for advice.

Depending on the age if the bird has little or no feathers take it in the house and put it in a empty shoebox and line it with towels and keep it a room away from your cats. Once your folks get home, tell them about what you've found.

Chances are they can find a wild life refuge to take the bird or if you want better advice ask a vet or someone who rehabs wildlife on how to care for the bird. If can get advice from a vet on how to care for the bird, mos likely you can take care of it yourself but check with your folks first to see if its ok for you to raise it.

go to wal mart and get worms in the fishing section and feed them to the baby bird and try to convince it to fly like a mother bird would do it and if your parents want to kill it say no and just give it to a near by pet store

Call animal control, they'll send some one to pick the bird up. Before they get there if you're worried and want to feed the baby bird then soak a little dog food till its mushy and you can feed that to it.
