I have two dogs..they were playing last night in the backyard. Turns out one of my dogs chipped his lower k9 tooth pretty bad. Im just trying to get the most opinions as possible.

Thanks everyone!

If the root is visible, your dog will suffer a lot of pain when biting. The treatment is totally up to your veterinarian who will know how to treat the roots and place a paste, as long as it is not necessary to extract a tooth.

I would say you bring him to the vet!! (: hope i helped :( i hope your doggie will be fine!

That happened to one of mine last weekend. It cost about $500 to have it filled. It can get infected pretty quickly and the Vet will want to do it within 12-24 hours or so. It will be very painful for the dog if the nerve is exposed, so get him in.

If the root isn't involved it might be okay. You probably want to take him to the vet to see if a nerve is exposed. The vet will probably try to talk you into fixing it, that will be pricey. If the root and/or nerve aren't affected, I wouldn't worry about it.

If it's puppy it'll be okay because they lose their teeth but if it's an adult then they make a numbing gel that you can get at a vet--hope your dog is okay!!!

my dog got her teeth knocked out so she has no front teeth. we didn't know about this so we didn't take her to the vet... and i guess she was fine because she didn't show any pain
