Law of the land, honey. Two wrongs don't make a right. Tell the authorities.

What did your mother do? and how old are you?

1. If the authorities are involved, chances are it's something illegal or dangerous, and you probably need to tell the truth.

2. If there are drugs, alcohol, weapons, abuse, or minor children involved you definitely need to tell the authorities the truth.

If it's something trival..like you're 13 and she left you home for an hour while she went to the store for an hour..and in your state you have to be 14...that's no big deal. If you're 12 and she left you for three days while you cared for your 5 younger siblings...that's a problem.

Usually I'd tell you to just tell the truth and not need more info..but there are some real stupid things being done by "the authorities", so while you probably should tell the truth...more info would clinch it for me.

I think it's always better to tell the truth. Yes she is your Mom but she should not be asking you to lie for her. Things work out better in the long run when the truth is told.

You always tell the truth, even if it means your mom will get in trouble. She should have never asked you to lie for her in the first place. Shame on her!

Tell the truth. Lying is only going to make things worse and could get you into trouble. Your mother needs to take responsibility for her actions and not put it off on you. You are the child, not the parent. If you can, please talk to your dad or another adult you trust before speaking to the authorities. Good luck and God Bless.

I agree it depends on the situation. If you lie you will live with it forever. If you lie and the authorities find out, you may get into alot of trouble. Pray on this one hun.

Do the right thing. If your Mom gets mad at you, let her know that you love her but you can't lie. If you do it once, she will expect it over and over again and you could get into trouble for lying to authorities also. Not worth it.

Never lie to anyone. One lie always leads to another. Whatever the reason you have to lie about may need to be corrected before Mom is in too deep into something that could ruin life for her and you.
I pray that all turns out for everyone.
God Bless.

Don't lie to the police or a judge or any prosecuting authority. You aren't exempt from being prosecuted for perjury or obstructing justice. If your mom gets into legal trouble, don't cover for her or you could get into serious trouble yourself. Your mom shouldn't want or ask you to do that.

Don't lie to the authorities, but you don't need to tell them everything, either. "I love my mother and I'm not going to say anything bad about her" is a perfectly valid answer. You can say it as many times as you like until they leave you alone.
