Heck no. Not if you like it! After I get my dogs, I spend about 3 days with them, watching how they play, picking up on their attitude, and I also look at baby names and pet names. Then, what ever calls to me is what I name them. My first dog (of my own) was named "Patience" at the shelter.. (they got that one wrong... maybe it was wishful thinking...) I had the name "Nalo" picked out, (Like Nala from the Lion King but with an O at the end). Once I got her home, it didn't fit her, so I named her Kay Cee (K.C. for Kansas City, where I got her.) Name her whatever you want! You should hear some of the names of dogs I get in class.... Odin, Thor, Max, Karma, Sugar, Rex, Rover, King Soloman, and my all time favorite weird but CUTE puppy name was "Adalide" called "Addy" for short.

who cares what people think, name your dog what you want to!

BUT... may I suggest looking at a website that has a list of many dog names, then write down the 10 you like best and see what your family likes from those. Compromise?

If the name matches the dog and that's what you want to call her...then sure, that's a great name! You could call her anything and after saying it for a while you'll get used to it no matter what. That's what happened to our horse, Goober.

It's your dog, name it what you want.
If the name fits, use it.

FYI Chevelle in french means horse.

Who cares what anyone else thinks? It's your dog and whatever you feel like naming him is good as long as it makes you happy. I don't think the dog will care. Enjoy your dog!
