"Porneia" -- usually translated as fornication, supposedly includes all forms of sexual behavior other than intercourse between a man and a woman, so fornication can apply to masturbation.

Couple this with Jesus's statements that lusting in one's mind is on an equal basis with doing the dirty deed, and you have a strong indication that masturbation is wrong, according to the bible.

Judaism teaches that the male's "spilling of the seed" anywhere but in the traditional heterosexual act of lovemaking is regarded as a sin. See http://urj.org/ask/homosexuality/

It doesn't. Clergy and religious people will say that masturbation is wrong bc it is "not getting mastery over one's own body" and giving in to impure thoughts. But that is their own interpretation. Besides, why would you want to make your decisions based upon an ancient manuscript, written at the same time when wives were killed for committing adultry?
Your question: "or is it just morals" is not clear. What do you mean by that? If you mean, "is masturbation just a matter of good morals or not", then I would say no. Masturbation is a natural thing, and better than forcing sex on someone when you are horny, or sex with the wrong person. I would say, if sex is all a person thinks about which causes them to want to masturbate quite often, then they need to get a life and do something more with their life.
There is a time and place for everything; if you must masturbate, then do it in private and don't worry about what the bible may or may not say about it. Religion puts too much unecessary guilt on people as it is. Anyone who claims that they've never masturbated (any adult) is either a liar, or they are instead getting laid quite frequently, and have no need to masturbate.

It is Genesis 38:9. This a strong teaching of the RC Church. Men made the rules in the Church, and let's face it, church tradition has had some real hangups about sex throughout the ages.

During our time, the religious leaders have made many sexual blunders with our wives and children. Are these the people to give instruction regarding sexual matters?

Even in past history, Popes and Bishops have committed grave sexual sins. Read about the Borgias.

However, this verse is not about masturbation. It has to do with a brother refusing to impregnate his brother's wife. To quote this scripture as an argument against masturbation is taking text out of context and attaching it to another topic. It is dishonest scholarship.

Masturbation is a normal act for both men and women. It gives relief and pleasure and prevents us from forcibly accosting others.

This is an issue that has to do with physical, not moral health. See your doctor if you have any concerns. STOP FEELING GUILTY FOR DOING WHAT IS NORMAL FOR HUMAN BEINGS!

It doesn't specifically condemn it, some verse have been used to show God's disapproval. Genesis 38: 8-10 is used, because Judah's son didn't carry out his duty and as the Bible say, "spilled his seed on the ground." The problem with masturbation is tricky; I think it becomes a problem when it gains control of your life, or your thoughts are misguided. The act itself isn't necessarily wrong, given the strength of a man's sexual drives, which are God given. Just be careful not to go off the deep end.

Onan has a brother named Er. When Er died, it was tradition that a single brother would marry the widow and have children. The children of the brother would be considered the deceased. Onan rebelled against this tradition, and although not classically "masturbating" he would have sex, and then pull out and "spill his seed" on the ground, and this displeased God. Therefore, it is a sin to spill seed, which is exactly what you do when you masturbate. Take it for what it's worth.

This is the passage most often quoted.
And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
And the thing which he did displeased the Lord: wherefore he slew him also.

-- Genesis 38: 7-10 (KJV)

This is just another type of Fornication.
God created sex to be utilized within the confines of marriage (between a man and woman) for the purpose of pro-creation and pleasure. Anything outside of this boundary constitutes Fornication and/or perversion.

something in the OT about spilling your seed on the ground. It's crazy talk. Just have as much safe sex as you want and when you are ready for the real thing marry a nice girl and live happily ever after.

Masterbation is a sin if your husband or wife is not involved. It says in the Bible that you belong to your husband. and that your husband belongs to you. So pleasing yourself is a selfish lustful thing to do. Sex was created by God for a Husband and Wife to share and to draw closer to eachother.

The bible says not to hold yourself from one another (husband and wife)... it doesn't mean if you are sick or something.. it means... as I take it... not to use it as a tool of manipulation.. like most people do today...

GOD CREATED SEX TO BE A BEAUTIFUL AND ESSENTIAL INGREDIENT OF MARRIAGE.

1st CORINTHIANS 6:18-20
FLEE FROM SEXUAL IMMORALITY. ALL OTHER SINS A MAN COMMITS ARE OUTSIDE HIS BODY, BUT HE WHO SINS SEXUALLY SINS AGAINST HIS OWN BODY. 19 DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOUR BODY IS A TEMPLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, WHO IS IN YOU, WHOM YOU HAVE RECIEVED FROM GOD? YOU ARE NOT YOUR OWN; 20 YOU WERE BOUGHT AT A PRICE. THEREFORE HONOR GOD WITH YOUR BODY

Colossians
5So kill (deaden, [a]deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).

6It is on account of these [very sins] that the [holy] anger of God is ever coming upon the sons of disobedience (those who are obstinately opposed to the divine will),

7Among whom you also once walked, when you were living in and addicted to [such practices].

Well, it's in several places actually. You might miss it because they don't say "masturbation" per se, they refer to it as "dropping your seed on the ground". Basically, your semen is to only go inside the woman's vagina, nowhere else.

On a sidenote, I think semen into a mouth is a lot sexier--a man's mouth... YUM!!!
