Ok so I was once at your crossroads.

Here's what I kinda figured out and I am by no means saying that other religions are bad, wrong, immoral, etc.

I am simply stating what I don't agree with in other religions.

Basically if you break it down simply I think it goes like this.

What I don't agree with in Islam is the ritualism.

Ritualism, in my opinion, when used with religion is bad. There shouldn't be practices that you do at a certain time everyday multiple times a day.

For example, prayer. Muslims pray 5 times a day.

I just don't believe in that. Why, you say??

Because prayer is a conversation between you and your creator. That's it. You shouldn't have a set schedule for your prayer or a number requirement for your prayer. It should be something you want to and you can do that whenever you feel like it. It shouldn't be like, oh, its 5 o'clock. Time to face towards the east and talk to God.

Also, ritualism is largely largely largely practiced in Satanism. Which is another religion I wouldn't even go near.

Why? Because the Devil is real and bad. I have had crazy unearthly type experiences with bad things and I know he is real.

And some might say, there isn't a Devil. Well there is a north and a south, left and right, positive and negative, good and bad. And there is a Satan. And he is bad.

Back to the prayer.... another thing, when you pray, you don't need to pray to Mary (ehem, Catholics).

Because WHAT THE HULLABALLOO DOES MARY HAVE TO DO WITH YOUR GOD? She was the vessel for Jesus, yes I agree.

But nowhere biblically does it ever ever say to pray to Mary or any of the saints. But Catholics are Christians who go strictly on what the Bible says, right??

So that for me right there, made me say no to Catholicism.

Ok so now do you see the trend I'm getting at, kinda?

Basically, if your looking for a new religion, study them all.

Give yourself a crash course in them, and use their actual books of worship.

Then decide for yourself. You can tell what you don't think is right or what seems weird. What makes you feel uncomfortable.

Like for example, Hinduism. I don't want to worship a god with 8 arms (I think its 8 arms... Vishnu)

Buts thats just me.

Personally, I am a Christian. Not a Baptist or Lutheran. I read the Bible. Gods word. That's it.

And when you read the Bible, know that no laws in the Old Testament really apply to you. The New Testament laws and the 10 commandments only apply since Jesus came to earth.

Good luck!! I hope you find what you are looking for!!!

I'd recommend finding a book written from an academic standpoint on the world's religions. There are several out there (you can find them online at major booksellers) that professors use for sociology courses that introduce religion.

These kinds of books give you a fairly impartial overview of the basic religions and what their central dogma is without anyone trying to either convert you or keep you from converting to something else.

Of course, if you're looking for a religion like you'd look for a good movie to watch or a reputed used car dealer, then you might find yourself better served looking at atheist or agnostic viewpoints.

Are you sure you're looking for religion and not trying to find yourself?

I guess you have to examine why youre previous religion is abandoned and you have to think about why you are seeking religion and what you are looking for.

There is a difference between religion that seeks God and seeks something else. If you are just seeking morality you don't necessarily need religion. If you're seeking God- you need Jesus... glad to answer any questions you may have as you seek...

Definitely ask God to guide you in your search for a religion. You need to spend time in prayer, the Holy Spirit will guide you, you have to believe that. Also, find out what religion started with Jesus, this may help.

"The Lord says to Peter: ‘I say to you,’ he says, ‘that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not overcome it. ... ’ [Matt. 16:18].

Secular Humanism. If you wanna call that a religion. Either way, it's way more beneficial than any of the theistic ones.

Have you ever heard of soccer player Diego Armando MARADONNA? well actually there´s a Religion in Argentina (it is really established as a religion) made from his fans, its called "RELIGION MARADONNIANA" and they see him as a god, they have churches and they have a holy book (like bible or coran) which is the biography from the player, and they live in the year... i donno 40 or something (the age from Maradonna), they started this new era when MARADONNA was born. Really Fanatic for my opinion, but for sure a religion.
