Just reading some answers/opinions on the illegal immigration debate and was struck by one response. Why doesn't there seem to be any outrage in the USA against the unethical employers that break the law by hiring illegals while the debates between the illegal immigrants and working class Americans becomes more hostile as we fight over the jobs and other "scraps" of the wealthy? If those that knowingly hire illegal immigrants were simply arrested for breaking the law, would that not let this problem solve itself as illegals wouldn't come to the USA since there would be no work?

Well it seems everyone hee got the point and largely agrees except Zoe to some point.
Zoe Dear Heart the government can enforce their laws if you don't believe me break one or two, Again all new hires are supposed to be registered through the SS Administration.
Imposing hefty fines on slick employers would alleviate some of the cost for a problem that they are responsible for. Phony SS cards sure thats an issue, go get one and use it lets see how fast they come down on you.
Yea the government can seal our borders but then where on earth would the republicans find chep daycare?

I believe there is and the new immigration bills under review have stipulated major fines for just such companies.

When I have work done on my home, I ask if the company hires illegals and let them know I won't allow them to work for me if they do.

It's nothing personal at all against illegals, more the point that I think its unscrupulous to hire under the table, not pay taxes, benefits, social security for your workers and it just reeks of untrustworthiness to me. To deliberately break the law in an effort to increase profit is just vile. If that illegal gets injured, who pays for his health care? How does he pay bills when there were no disability payments made for him so he can't file?

My arguement can be made not just for illegals but for anyone trying to circumvent the system with illegal hiring practices, ya know?

I swear...it made sense in my head. Hope it makes sense to you. Root canals and the resulting meds makes one a bit loopy. lol

The first answer you got is correct. It is easy for employers as they do not claim them as workers and it is easier for the Government as well as they do not have to jump through all the hoops to get these people naturalized. Plain and simple, it would be expensive for the employer and the government to keep track of it all so it just isn't enforced like it should be. I like to think our law enforcement is going to better use by getting murderers and rapists off the street.

I think steep fines would be sufficient....Here in my town they do border patrol sweeps and go into businesses that hire illegals. They pay steep fines if they are caught with undocumented workers.....So most know better.....

But they also need to go to construction sites and do the same....There is where most of the illegals work, building expense homes. If you take away the dangling carrot, most would not come here...I agree

They are suppose to be in reality they have neither the personal or resources to actually crack down on this. It seems they only make raids when immigration is being debated or in the press other wise they switch to Iraq, gay marriage, flag burning, Iran etc, etc. back to immigration In reality the government simply can not enforce it's own laws and the system is to overwhelm with to much red tape

I think it's because they pay under the table. When it comes to filling for taxes, they don't put the ppl they pay under the table as a write off or whateva. Whatever the government won't know won't hurt them. It's a ssshhh I won't tell situation.

People are telling them too-NO More. and some towns are making them pay.

If the illegals were not here to begin with-the greed for companies would not be there on this point, SO-lets make the first Law breaker-pay the highest-than work from there.

You have posted this same question over and over, but provide no source for these numbers. We don't ignore companies that hire illegals. And you cherry pick years. Why those years? Is it because they show your bias and hate?
