Depends. If it's straight, I don't think brushing it or not brushing it will make much of a difference in shine. If it's wavy/curly, then don't brush it because frizz will make your hair look dull. Make sure you use clear styling products because if they have colors, the residue can build up and make your hair look less shiny. You can use a little shine serum (like a silicone gloss) but make sure you put it on when your hair is wet and don't use too much or it looks like a big greasy mess. Don't touch your hair too much--it roughs up the cuticle and rough hair=dull hair. And don't use too many heat stylers--the dryness they cause even when used responsibly can make your hair cuticles rough. And keep it trimmed--fuzzy ends always look dull.

Don't brush wet hair, comb out tangles using your fingers or using a wide-toothed comb. You should also invest in a good quality smoothing balm or hair serum, which you should apply to wet hair before drying. If you want your hair to look silky and smooth for a special occasion, use a serum, then blow dry the hair pointing the nozzle of the dryer down the hair shaft, then after using a heat protection spray, use hair straighteners for a smooth, sleek finish. You can also buy shine sprays and balms however use them sparingly to avoid an oily appearance.

It'll certainly help cold water to make it shiny but it's always good to brushing it in the morning and get the scalp a massage..

Use a shine product - Fructis works well for me. Blow dry your hair, too - but make sure to use an "ion" hair dryer, which will give your hair additional shine. The cold water works, too.

Black is way less mainstream through comprehensive punk goth emo form occurring there, yet I truly have jet black hair and it continues to be remarkable. in case you want remarkable black hair use Mark Hill super shine shampoo and conditioner ;D its large. Blonde purple and brown are too mainstream. BLACK HAIR isn't grotesque. its kinda greater eyecatching than uninteresting brown :P

Your hair needs Vitamin E for shine and you can get this much needed vitamin by incorporating brown rice, nuts, wheat germ and leafy green vegetables into your daily food.
