I am not an accountant - but I have a Master's degree in Education and my advice first is to choose a major that is something you LOVE. You are going to see alot of the subject in your school and work career, and if you don't love it you may tire of it.
Accounting or busniess is ceratinly a solid career that pays well.
It means mainly being in a office, working on a computer, solving complex problems, etc. does that sound good?
If you want to be more sure call a business, like an accountant, tell them you are considering a career and you like to spend a day in their office and see what you think. Or, do that with any potential career - it will take alot of the guessing out of it., and be worth your time.
Go get 'em - you sound awesome!

As an accountant my dear friend, I would certainly suggest you to stay away from this career. I want to keep a short, but useful answer to you. Pursue your interests and don't look on what others have to say. I would have suggest going in Mathematics, Business or Arts. Maths is brain candy.

Are you good with numerical problems, working with numbers, and detailed work? Then you might like accounting. Accounting is the scorecard of business. The world will always need accountants, and with increased government regulation of business and increased reporting requirements of companies, there will always be jobs in accounting.

Do a double major. Take business as one, and something else that really interests you. That way when you are done you will have twice the opportunities. Plus should you decided to do a masters you can go for an MBA or what ever else you want.
