We've done everything,... parties, limos, bed & breakfast. They're 81 and 82 yrs old so it can't be Too much. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How about a video tape or DVD or CD, depending on what they would be comfortable using and seeing:

of the kids (and grand kids?) telling favorite stories about their parents.

If there aren't many kids, you could also include some close friends and other relatives.

Take out a full page newspaper ad. They've really accomplished something here. The whole community should know. Call all the radio stations you can think of, and the local TV news, too.

Then do the limo thing, and take them to a nice restaurant in town.

You're gonna want all the balloons, streamers, confetti, etc., you can find!

If they go to church, you might consider getting their church involved. If not, find some of their friends.

If you have some money to spend, you might consider a cruise.

In the summer of 2005, we celebrated our parents' 50th wedding anniversary by meeting in Vancouver, spending a few days there, and then going on an Alaska cruise for a week (well, most of us--a few stayed behind in Vancouver, couldn't handle the extended time on the water).

But, you don't have to spend money if you don't want to, or if your parents don't want to travel far. Rent a large house in a nice area, and arrange for as many people in your family as possible to spend several days to a week there.

One other thing you might consider if they happen to be Catholics, is getting a Papal Blessing. It can be arranged through your diocese. We did this as well.

IAC, good luck planning, and congratulations on your parents' wonderful marriage.

I think you should get your family together for a pot luck reunion to celebrate their lives together. You should do a slide presentation of pictures of each of them separately then as time goes on etc through wedding pics then with children grandchildren. You get it.Its more personal and with their age it is better than a mini vacation.Their are programs that can do this and put it to music. We did this at our wedding and everyone loved it.

I'm sure you have old photos lying around. Why not make a photo album of their lives together starting when they met. Put poems, quotes, stickers, ribbons, etc. You can find almost anything at hobby stores. And make sure all the kids write somewhere in there what your parents mean to you. I'm sure they'd love it. My mom did an album for my brothers, sister and I for us the year my dad died. I still treasure it.

How about trying to re-create their wedding day?? Or maybe an anniversary cruise?? There are all kinds of cruises and you could tailor one for their age.

A BIGGGGG bottle of Geritol.

They'll think they're 18 again.

I'm not far behind them. I know what I'm talking about.

Ask them if they were to go any place in the world to see one thing what would it be? Then make it so.
