I found a website that explained what the cost of living in shenzhen is actually . It said about 350 USD. That inlcudes housing, food phone, fuel, etc.
The reason the cost of living there is considered high, is because the chinese peoples salary is so low. If I come to work in Baoan, Shenzhen, I will get rought 6000rmb a month with free housing. Can anyone that lives there or has been there give me ideas or comments.

I plan on going back and forth to philippines once in a while and I think I can save enough money in china to make this happen.

Any commets from people that have lived there would be helpful.

Shenzhen is very modern and the cost of living varies by district. Stay away from the touristy places, and if you get to choose housing, you can save additional housing. Phone is usually local line only costs about 12 yuan (RMB) a month...fuel for what a car?...It's warm enough year round. food depending on your tastes varies from about 25 yuan a day up (about $2.00) I usually eat dumplings or noodle soup for breakfast...about 2 yuan, lunch costs 4-10 yuan and dinner may cost 10 yuan. I live in Zhanjiang, west of Guangzhou and it costs less here.
