I asked my mum what she wants for Christmas? and she said, "I'll tell you what I don't want" Isn't that a great way of thinking about buying presents for people?

Yes it is cause how many people end up with things they don't want every Christmas, yes, yes I know its a case of "Its the thought that counts" thing and all that, but there are such lazy devils out there who just pick anything up from the shelf and say to themselves, that will do, how rotten is that, all our friends ask each other what they would like for Christmas each year and that way we all get something we really want and no miserable faces are surrounding us on Christmas day by doing that, just remember to chose something off the list your mom does want and not rush out last thing and pick up anything, sounds like a perfect mom to me.

It's part of the job description for moms, forgive her, she's probably got a million and one things to think about already. Did she actually tell you what she doesn't want? That info in itself could be helpful really. If you make a list of what you think she might like....... then strike out all the things that she listed as not wanting. The ones left over are potential gifts for her. Ok..ok, it's probably not the answer that you were hoping for but at least you've got some guidlines now!! Poor you!!

Christmas? It's July! My mum looks disappointed with whatever she gets so I've given up trying. It's nice to ask people what they want though because they may have some ideas of what they do or don't want.

There's always the christmas presents that last for about a day or two. Chocolates, a fun game, perfume. Just something to make her feel special or happy thats not too expensive

But what about the element of surprise and that rewarding feeling when you get somebody something that they never expected but really love? Hmmmmm...... but I like the idea of going into a shop, getting the desired item and buggering off back home, secure in the knowledge that the gift item is wanted. Im torn!

no i do not do that! i am just happy with whatever. but you should not have to ask. get them something you think would fit and if they are that ungrateful than they will finally let you know the next year and there will be no worries!

That's a great idea. It means that whatever you do get her will be a surprise but it won't be something she doesn't want.
